Issuance of Scrappage Certificate & Certificate of Deposit in India
In India, the Vehicle Scrappage Policy aims to phase out old, unfit vehicles to reduce pollution and enhance road safety. A crucial part of this process involves obtaining two key documents:
📄 Scrappage Certificate
This official document confirms that your vehicle has been responsibly dismantled at a government-authorized Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility (RVSF). It serves as proof of legal disposal and is essential for deregistering the vehicle from the VAHAN database.
📄 Certificate of Deposit (CoD)
Upon scrapping your vehicle, you receive a CoD, which entitles you to various incentives when purchasing a new vehicle. Benefits include:
• Up to 25% rebate on road tax for private vehicles.
• Waiver of registration fees for the new vehicle.
• Manufacturer discounts of around 5% on the purchase price.
These incentives are designed to encourage the adoption of newer, more environmentally friendly vehicles.
📝 How to Obtain These Certificates
1. Select an Authorized RVSF: Ensure the facility is recognized by the government.
2. Submit Required Documents: Typically includes the vehicle’s Registration Certificate (RC), owner identification, and a consent form.
3. Vehicle Inspection: The RVSF will inspect and verify the vehicle details.
4. Issuance of Certificates: After successful scrapping, the facility will provide both the Scrappage Certificate and the CoD.
