Lupin Poisonrisk (full name Lupinus, Lu/Lup for friends and people 3 seconds away from getting punched) used to be an Ash Legion soldier belonging to the Poison warband, a young and eager-to-impress espionage and assassination unit that was earning a reputation in the field.
He had great pedigree and talent to spare, but Lupin found his true calling during a brief mission in Lion's Arch, leading to him spending his time off working for a certain big name in the city's underground scene.
Turned gladium after the band was decimated by a Renegade ambush and the survivors split over disagreements, Lupin left the Legion and reveled in the freedom his job in Lion's Arch offered.
In a short time, he became bolder than ever and developed a taste for precious, exclusive things and the thrill of "acquiring" them.
After Scarlet destroyed the city, Lupin found himself adrift for a while, between his old boss going missing and the newly-formed gangs being more trouble and infighting than what it was worth, until he made a new warband for himself... a warband of skritt.
After over a decade of activity, the Steal warband has amassed an impressive collection of "acquired" artifacts from across Tyria, both currently in their possession (in their secret hideout) and eventually sold to clients of all stripes.
Somehow they were never caught with hard evidence of their illegal activity, always appearing as a group of scrappers reselling mere junk instead of the criminal masterminds they were.
Now that Lion's Arch has cleared its image a bit, Lupin felt that was their chance to clear their act up a tad as well and obtain some legitimacy.
With the Priory and the Astral Ward as returning clients of theirs (among many others) and some additional earned trust after their little insider tip to the Commander and Lionguard helped route out an illegal trade business, the Steal warband can now continue its activity out in the open. Mostly in the open, if you catch their drift.

Trivia
- The Steal warband is made of Lupin as Legionnaire, 4 skritt (a self-declared weapon-expert, a fighter, an talented purloiner and an ex-guard who is in over his head) and a murellow (mascot and tracker).
- He can be a jerk full of himself at times, but he's a master of manipulation who can work his charm like few others.
- Lupin never liked the way his horns looked and always got stuck in hoods and such. When one of them broke during the ambush that killed most of his former warband, he took the chance to start filing them down.
- He's a fairly capable fighter and is good at rolling with the punches, but if it comes to it he prefers to fight dirty and with as many advantages as possible.
- He's quite the womanizer. And manizer(?). Doesn't even have to be charr. Honestly, anything is good as the person in question catches his eye.
- He genuinely cares for his skritt friends as if they were his warband, regularly treating them to things beyond their share of shinies, but for all intents and purposes? They're just underlings who get bonuses for their performance and to ensure their loyalty.
- As for the skritt, Lupin is one of them and the leader of the scratch, full stop. They're also the only ones who can talk back to him and they know it.
