Screw Dilbert! The African American teenage girl who was arrested on the bus "before Rosa Parks famously did" also passed away today!
On March 2nd 1955, Claudette Colvin was an African American Teenage girl who was arrested for refusing to give up her seat for a white man and move to the back of the bus in Montgomory, Alabama. No one cared much!
Then in the winter of that same year, Rosa Parks also got arrested for refusing to sit at the back of the bus as well and it became a big deal, leading to a massive boycott against the bus company and everything.
No one listened when it happened to a teenage girl, but everyone listened when the older Rosa Parks was arrested for the same thing in the same city of the same year.
Screw Dilbert! May Claudette Colvin rest in peace! She was more of a hero than the man who made Dilbert even if it took another older women to make everyone aware of what was going on in the US during apartheid and bus segregation.
Rest in power!
Civil Rights pioneer Claudette Colvin has died, her family and foundation confirmed Tuesday afternoon.
