Scott knows that he’s one of the lucky ones, his mutation is easy to cover. Budding feathers at his shoulders, twisted and crudely sheared when they grow too big are easy to hide under a shirt. He knows other people don’t have it quite so good- Stiles with his trail of blue scales along the left side of his jaw for one has no hope of covering it, or ever passing as- besides, it also means that he’s allowed to go and work in the city where they’re always hiring the mutant kids- as long as their mutations aren’t too extreme that is.

Even though Scott McCall hates the way the non-mutants treat mutants, he is able to keep his head down and earn enough money to help his mother out. He’s goes to work at the vet’s every day, earns his keep and then comes home back in the mutant sector; it’s boring but he’s happy where he is. That is, until he catches the eye of Lydia Martin, a non-mutant from one of the wealthiest families in the Nation.

But is she truly non-mutated? Or does she hide a secret of her own?
