Nexushaus Team Places 4th in Solar Decathlon

UT Austin students placed fourth overall in the prestigious 2015 Solar Decathlon competition.

The team spent two years of imagining how to power our homes and keep our day-to-day lives running on light from the sun, designing and building a futuristic, solar-powered home dubbed “Nexushaus.”

The UT Austin team also placed third in the Solar Decathlon's Engineering Contest and second in the Affordability Contest.

But you can still help the Nexushaus team win the fan favorite part of the Solar Decathlon by voting for the UT Austin students. Voting ends at 4 p.m. Texas time on Sunday, October 18: http://utex.as/1Pth5wG

The Nexushaus team was one of 20 selected for the prestigious competition out of more than 150 teams that applied. As part of an international partnership, more than 60 students from The University of Texas at Austin and the Technische Universität München (TUM) helped design and build the solar-powered home.

The 2015 Solar Decathlon marks the fourth time UT Austin has been selected to compete, with the most recent UT team competing in 2007. This year, UT Austin is the only Texas university represented in the competition.
