International Coastal Cleanup (ICC)

Today, 16th of September, we celebrate the International Coastal Cleanup Day that was started by the Ocean Conservancy in 1986. Almost 12 million people have been part of the world's biggest volunteer to protect the ocean. Everyone can make the difference by taking a day at the beach and carrying a roll of garbage bags. Clean up the mess on the beach and help to reduce the amount of garbage that gets into the ocean such as plastics that lasts a very long time in the ocean. It kills more than a million sea birds and over 100,000 seals, turtles, and whales, and a giant number of fish in our ocean. In addition to this massive destruction of marine life, it is also detrimental to human health, tourism and has implications for the political-legal and economic factors of any coastal region. Go to the nearest beach and make the difference!
