Great shot of a Galapagos shark by @tjboster! Wolves and sharks actually are actually quite similar in terms of their ecological role. Both are considered apex predators, and when wolves were reintroduced to Yellowstone national park they changed the entire ecosystem by controlling prey populations that had overgrazed vegetation opening up habitat for a variety of other species and even changing the course of the rivers. We are only begging to fully understand how sharks influence their environment and the ecological consequences when they are no longer present.
