The interpretation I kinda like is that “The King has to sacrifice himself” means, literally, the King sacrifices the position of King, and all the power and such that comes with it, but then again I am extremely anti royalty and any fic that recreates the Lucian monarchy after the end of the game is an *instant* nope for me. And the fact that they are in the throne room and Iggy is bowing kinda ruins that. God, Noct never even seems like he *wants* to be king.

OH MAN THAT’S EVEN BETTER because fuck that slavishly worshipping the throne bullshit. It’s funhouse mirror Christian allegory and poorly done, at that.

BUT WHY NOT BOTH? Noctis goes ‘my power now’, heals Ignis, marches into the crystal, punches Bahamut in the dick for ten years while his ring powers up, rolls out, picks up the bros, punches Ardyn in the dick, uses up that god king power to cleanse the world, after which he kicks over the throne and declares Lucis a democracy, for which they’ll have to find someone to elect for it because he’s GOING BACK ON A ROADTRIP, BABYYYYY! and ollies out to see how many other gods he needs to punch, with whoever wants to come in tow.

And to be fair, I can make it poetic - all the people noctis has helped during his journey offering a little bit of themselves to save him. It even suits the whole credits roll thing of the alternate ending where you see everyone working together during world of ruin

He hasn’t thought about it. All things considered, he’d likely do well as a traveling scholar - researching various topics as he wanders, particularly in places of historical value. Kuja has traveled nearly all of his life, and feels best when he is on the move - likely because in the past, at least when he and Neirin were wandering, it felt like they were at least doing something. Kuja often feels useless and restless when restricted to one area; any job he took must allow him to travel.

Kuja softens for those he loves. He becomes more protective, less guarded; he may not necessarily open up to someone simply because he loves them, but he is much more likely to answer questions. He nurtures. He fusses. Chances are high that if Kuja is nagging after someone because they aren’t taking care of themselves, it’s because he loves them dearly - those he doesn’t care about may rot.

Not... very. Not as much as he used to be. Kuja was a highly compassionate child, reduced through stress and trauma into compassion and sympathy for one person alone. He often has difficulty caring about the thoughts and feelings of anyone who isn’t Neirin - and those who do manage to break past that barrier never cease to confuse him.

Kuja honestly shouldn’t be given a pet, but in theory? Something that can hunt, something that can kill. Something he can train to fight.

I feel like Prompto’s backstory, like, could have worked, if it wasn’t written by someone who thinks that hating your body and disordered eating are fine, actually. There’s like a development doc or something out there that specifically mentions he has a fear of gaining weight but thats about as close at it comes to like, treating the issue with any sot of respect whatsoever

Oh ugh. UGH. Goddamnit, this makes Ignis’s telling him he’ll gain weight every time he wants to eat fast food really depressing, especially with how thin Prompto is. Which is really fucked up with Ignis basically being a gourmet cook.

(Personally Episode Prompto is my fave DLC episode, which isn’t actually saying a lot, but I’m also a slut for clone drama and don’t think Prom being an MT really makes him special as much as its the apotheosis of his feelings of being an outsider, or disposable. He’s not Lucian, not a “real person”, ect. He wasn’t not supposed to be a super soldier or anything like that, he’s fodder. But like I said, slut for clone drama)

I’ll probably be more interested in it when I’m less grumpy about the plot, because more Prompto is a good thing even if I’m ehhhh about the developments. (They dropped it into the main game in one of the stupidest possible ways, which majorly influences how I feel about it, since I’m usually down for some clone drama.)

(also just a little fun fact, one time I made a kinkmeme prompt about Prompto being antimonarchist while still being bffs with the literal prince, and someone decided to take that as an opportunity to sincerely try to debate pro-monarchy. It was the wierdest thing)

PEOPLE ARE FUCKING WILD. Jesus.

That’s totally a believable way for Prompto to be since the ‘chosen king’ thing is something he has to take on faith, but he sees directly in front of him how this bullshit wears on Noctis. Magic powers aside, Noctis is a pretty normal young man, and clearly depressed as hell to boot. (They may not have meant him to be, but they sure WROTE him that way.)

Yepppp it just falls *completely* apart in like. Theme. Intent. What is supposed to be happening. It seems like they wanted to buck the jrpg trend of rebelling against fate but they created a fate that really, really begs to be rebelled against!

It did feel kind of like bucking a trend just to buck a trend and it utterly escaping them that instead they landed right in Unfortunate Implications land. And like... I feel like You Have To Accept Your Shitsack Fate And Suffer is a tone-deaf message to have at the best of times, and these past 20 years have not been the best of times.

And then Episode Ignis tries to give a “happy” ending but..how??? Did it work???? Was Ignis just more *motivated*, somehow??? Was his *eyesight* really the deciding factor??? Did the scant amount of info Ardyn gave him make *that* much of a difference???    

Yeahhhhh it was baffling. I did some poking around and came across an interpretation I really like -- in having to go after Ignis, Noctis didn’t have time to fall into that deep depression, and seeing Ignis having done something so drastic to save his life lit a major fire under Noctis’s ass and he just fucking. Grabbed that crystal power with both hands, healed Ignis right up, and marched his ass into that crystal like a total boss instead of being vored into it against his will. That he could nullify the sacrifice the crystal/ring tried to make Ignis make suggests that a sacrifice wasn’t ever necessary at all.

I’m sure that was inspiring as all hell, but they also had Ravus, whatever he knew about the Empire, the equipment under Ravus’s command...... hell, come to think of it, he was probably never declared a traitor either, since there wasn’t several weeks between Leviathan and the boys getting to the Keep this time. Ardyn just fucking destroyed a big part of the Keep and vanished, and didn’t Ravus have a pretty high rank? If the Emperor was already indisposed, and Ardyn went missing for long enough, Ravus might have had what was left of the Empire under his control. Several weeks of head start, being inspired rather than demoralized, with a lot of infrastructure and equipment they wouldn’t have otherwise have, I can see how they’d do a lot better.
