I an SOOO in love with these shoes! I just bought them recently & they are just my favorite thing ever! Living in or visiting Seattle anytime soon? Do yourself a favor & buy a pair! Fer realz! 😋 #rainshoes #chooka #itrainshere #seattleproblems #ihatewetfeet #seattlestyle (at Seattle, Washington)
Morning snow. I wish it would either snow enough to justify staying home or not snow at all. Instead it snows just enough to make all the buses an hour late. Ugh. #seattleproblems (at Downtown Seattle)
Walking in that fall Seattle rain and realizing I should have opted for a waterPROOF not water-resistant jacket. I should know better. #seattleproblems
I saw a sign that said "stop the yuppie-fication" of Seattle
And now I'm worried that I'm a yuppie.. I like my new job but I feel like I'm directly responsible for this problem of gentrification and rising rents because I work in recruiting for a large tech company and I'm actively bringing in more yuppies to fill all these jobs. And I'm watching my neighborhood get rapidly gentrified and I know it's because white couples like me and my boyfriend are moving in and can "afford" the market rates for rent and pushing people of color of more modest means out.. But I also wander how long will it be before we can't afford the rent anymore.... Idk man... Feeling a lot of white guilt right now.. And I should because we are apart of the problem but I'm not sure how to turn it around and be part of the solution to make Seattle more affordable and inclusive to people of color because I do value diversity in the city and I'm tired of all the artisanal bakeries and tapas bars with $12 craft cocktails and luxury modern apartments with rooftop decks and fucking saunas for $1800 a month and BMWs parked on the streets and dudes riding fucking hoverboards on the sidewalk. And then that is juxtaposed against all the legal homeless camps popping up all over the city and the people I see hurting and struggling in the dark underbelly of the city with its open drug markets and prostitution rings because people are so desparate .... Idk man I'm just disgusted and feeling awful about my part in this at the same time 😒😒😒
