I'd love to hear more of the "Shrek Adopts Arthur" AU, if you have it. Maybe what Arty's up to in the second movie?
Well in the second movie he’s with Shrek and Fiona of course meeting his grandparents. He’s quite excited and the grandparents are startled because wtf?
I imagine Queen Lillian is actually delighted to have a grandchild so soon. She is very happy to meet Arthur. Meanwhile Harold is… he likes the boy. He’s not a bad man, he’s just very much not a fan of his daughter’s choices plus the fact the fairy godmother is threatening him. He quite likes Arthur.
Fairy Godmother I think… wouldn’t hate Arthur either. She wouldn’t like him much but she reasons they can make the argument an adopted child isn’t the same as a blood one. Prince Charming… he’s the issue here. However he has to put up with it.
Of course Shrek still gets sent out and Arthur is taken to spend time with his new Grandparents but he picks up something odd is happening fast.
Then the whole ‘true love’ thing is going on, and Fiona is human while Charming is pretending to be Shrek. Arthur clocks it fast. Like stupid fast. However he makes the mistake of confronting Charming who knocks him out. Fairy Godmother puts a curse on him of eternal sleep.
Shrek, despairing and having left, hears of this and SNAPS. He partly left Arthur behind because he’s got a lot of emotional issues surrounding his human son being raised in a swamp that were made worse by Fairy Godmother. But oh fuck this shit thanks.
Arthur can only be woken up by true loves kiss… in this case his parents kissing.
