Happy Sixth | Tarun Saluja X OC (One Shot)
Tonight was a special night for Tarun Saluja and Zareen Arora-Saluja. It was their six year anniversary and he was coming home on the perfect day, The wife of famous defense lawyer already prepared something special for both of them, She was going to cook his favourite food and set up candles to make it feel special.
The butter chicken simmered on low heat, filling the air with garam masala, Garlic naan rested under a clean tea towel, A bottle of wine placed beside two glasses and a small vase of deep red roses, Everything was ready and every minute, Zareen was feeling excited and waited by dining table.
She looked at the photo frame of their wedding day which brought a soft smile to her face, couldn't believe how fast time flew, She felt like that same woman who blushed hard when Tarun proposed to her on her birthday party six years ago. Sweet memories continued running through her head, the ones that made her smile a lot. Suddenly, the front door clicks and heard her husband walking in.
Tarun: Zareen?
His eyes lit up the moment he saw her sitting by the table in her red saree, Zareen glanced at him, smiling a little
Zareen: The accused has finally arrived
Tarun chuckled, putting his briefcase aside and shrugged off his coat, keeping his gaze on her.
Tarun: I plead guilty, Your Honour. Mitigation: I spent the entire cab ride thinking about my lovely sifeinstead of case notes.
Zareen: Accepted
She said, laughing as he pulled her into his arms, she pressed her face on his shoulder while he hugged her tightly.
Zareen: Happy sixth anniversary, Tarun.
He smiled, kissing the top of her head before they pulled away and he touched both of her cheeks.
Tarun: Happy anniversary, jaan. You look gorgeous.
Zareen: All for you, my love. *Kisses his cheek* Go and get changed, Dinner is ready.
He nodded, kissing her cheek again before disappearing into the bedroom, Zareen poured the wine, smiling to herself. She could hear him humming, An old Kishore Kumar song they'd danced to at their sangeet, it brought her back memories.
When he returned, sleeves rolled up, hair still a little damp from a quick wash, He paused in the doorway, eyes travelling over her slowly.
Zareen: *Chuckles* Stop staring, Tarun, Sit.
Tarun: *Smirks* Can’t help it, Red fits you.
He walked towards her and smelled the perfume which drawn him closer, He continued looking at her up and down and remembered something.
Tarun: Six years ago, You wore a red saree on the beach at sunset and I almost proposed right there instead of waiting another three months for your birthday.
Zareen: You did propose three months later. On one knee, in front of my whole family and friends, Leaving me red as a tomato.
Tarun: I could never forget that.
Both of them took a seat, lifting their glasses of wine as Tarun raised it up.
Tarun: To the woman who argues better than I do and still lets me win sometimes.
Zareen: To the man who pretends to lose just to make me happy.
They clinked glasses, sharing a laugh and took the first sip, enjoying the taste of wine. Soon, they decided to prepare dinner and Tarun took the first bite of the butter chicken, He hummed quietly as Zareen watched his reaction with a smile.
Tarun: God, Zareen. How is this better every time?
Zareen: Cooked with love, That's why.
He chuckled and reached for her hand across the table.
Tarun: You never fail to impress me, Jaan. Even when you don't try too.
Zareen: Because I'm with the right person.
He smiled as they ate slowly, trading stories and recalling old memories together, Every second, every bite felt special to both of them, At some point, her foot found his under the table. Bare toes brushed his ankle. He raised an eyebrow.
Tarun: Behave, my love.
Zareen: *Smirks* I am behaving, Very well, actually.
Tarun: *Smirks* No, I think you just want to be naughty.
Zareen: Well, You like that, Don't you, Tarun?~
Tarun: One of my favourite sides of you~
She giggled and took another bite, winking at him. He smirked, caressing her hand before taking another bite.
Zareen: Brings me back old memories, Yaar.
Tarun: Does it? Because I was thinking we could revisit a few.
Zareen: Which ones?
He stood, came around the table, and pulled her up gently as she looked at him, her eyes sparkled.
Tarun: Dance with me first.
Zareen: *Giggles* There’s no music.
Tarun: We don't need music, Jaan.
He spoke softly, looking at her, guiding her hand to his shoulder, settling his own at the small of her back, Zareen looked into his eyes, feeling her heart skip a beat as they swayed in the quiet, No music yet it felt beautiful.
Tarun: Do you ever think we got lucky? That we found each other one day at the cafe.
Zareen: *Laughs* Oh yes, I almost spilled coffee on your law paper, But surprisingly you weren't so mad about it
Tarun: *Smiles* I was lost in your beauty, I didn't care about the papers for a moment there.
Zareen: *Grins* You're ridiculous.
Tarun: Don't blame me, The way you walked, passionate, brilliant, stunning without trying. I thought, "I need to know this woman"
They laughed quietly, He leaned close, towards her ear and placed a gentle kiss, She felt a shiver running down her spine and gripped his shoulder tightly, He smirked, pulling slightly away.
Tarun: You intimidate me sometimes, you know.
Zareen: Liar.
Tarun: Truth. You still do. . .
His hand slid lower, fingers tracing the edge of her saree where it tucked at her waist, Her cheeks warmed, feeling his fingers brush against her skin.
Tarun: Especially when you wear red~
Zareen: *Smiles* You're trying to distract me from winning this argument.
Tarun: *Smirks* Is it working?
Zareen: Maybe. . .
His hand fully touched her waist, sending another shiver running down her spine as his voice dropped to something more. . . Seductive.
Tarun: I love the way we fight, And I love the way we make up even more~
Zareen: Those fights weren't serious.
Tarun: It never is, But how it ends? That's the best part.
She couldn't bear it and kissed him deeply, six years of knowing exactly how he liked it. His hands tightened on her waist, pulling her closer until there was no space left between them.
When they broke apart, their foreheads were touching as Zareen whispered, breathless from the kiss.
Zareen: Tarun?
Tarun: Hmm?
Zareen: Take me to bed.
Tarun: *Smiles* I thought you'd never ask.
He lifted her easily, She laughed as her hands flew behind his neck, He chuckled at her reaction and pushed the bedroom door with his foot and afterwards, Both of them had a wild and intimate session.
Later, Both of them were tangled in sheets and each other, Tarun placed a kiss on her back before wrapping his arms around her, Zareen had a smile on her face, her cheeks flushed
Zareen: Best anniversary?
Tarun: Every one with you is the best one yet, Jaan.
They giggled as Zareen turned around, facing him as both of them stared at each other, their eyes softened, The love still blooming in the air even after all these years.
Tarun: I love you, Zareen.
Zareen: I love you too, Tarun.
They shared another kiss, deep and slow before pulling away and smiled at each other. They cuddled for the rest of the night, enjoying their comforrt in their own little world together.
