NICE TRY
It was hot. No, it was mind-numbingly unbearable. Considering that it was still early on in the day, the arena was only bound to get hotter. It made sense that Roman would be drawn to the oasis after having been drenched in sweat and blood. The oasis wasn’t anything close to the shower he had at home, not even a little bit, but it was the best he could find on short notice. He stayed on the far end hoping to avoid any predators wanting to make a quick meal of him, but it was quiet to his surprise. Was it telling that he was more worried about the animals than he was tributes? In fact, the only reason he wasn’t up near the hovercraft was to hunt for anyone lucky enough to escape the bloodbath. Roman was at the top of the food chain looking down. It was a nice place to be knowing he wouldn’t have to watch his back like the others did.
Just as he was about to leave, Roman spotted Leaf at the other end of the oasis. Whether she had seen him or not didn’t matter to him at that point. He’d come looking for a fight and he wasn’t about to let her get away. Leaf was one of the few tributes that he’d actually believed to be a problem knowing she was fighting to keep her sister alive. Where was the younger one anyway? It didn’t seem like she was anywhere nearby. If she was alone, Roman thought it a good a time as any to attack. With his weapon in hand, he slowly circled the edge of the water as he approached Leaf. Before she had a chance to flee, Roman sprinted to where she was as if an animal to his prey.
