You are calling a name over and over. You seem to know it, but not. Like passing by to a place and you say, "I know it, it's a xxx". But when you are asked, "What kind of place is it? What's inside? Is it great?". All of sudden you fall into silence and suddenly you realize that you don't really know the place. The worse is you don't even give any shit that you don't know. You feel like it's okay that you don't know it well. What if it is Allah. You always call His Name but just how far you get to acquaint with Him?

Finding Jesus

So, I just finished reading a VERY INTENSE AND INTERESTING book called Seeking Allah, Finding Jesus, by Nabeel Qureshi, and my puny brain is still trying to process just how amazing his story is. My dad was the one who first introduced me to Dr. Queshi (he has three degrees: an MD, a masters in Christian apologetics, and a masters in religion. Yeah, he's a pretty cool guy), via a youtube video. This one, to be exact: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HaYR4G7oRiw

Now, be warned, this video is quite long. But PLEASE, if you have a generous chunk of time to spare, I would highly recommend you watch it. You don't even have to watch, you could just listen. It's engaging, provocative, and challenged and inspired me as a Christian to take after Dr. Qureshi's example.

Basically, Dr. Qureshi was born into a very devout Muslim family (he's actually very distantly related to Muhammad or something!), and was raised to be an extremely passionate Muslim whose faith and beliefs formed the cornerstone of his life. But then, he became good friends with a Christian who, praise God, had solid knowledge about the Bible and could back up his faith with historical and logical proof. Dr. Qureshi found himself being presented with a gospel that withstood his thorough theological scrutiny. And not only that, he was confronted with the earth-shattering reality that his faith, the Muslim religion he grew up with, could not do the same.

The whole book tells the story of his journey to find the truth, and ultimately, he finds it and accepts it, despite the sacrifices that came with taking up his cross.

One of the things that was really emphasized throughout his testimony was the idea that the crux of Christianity rested on three main points:

1. Jesus is the one true God

2. Jesus was crucified and died on the cross

3. Jesus was raised from the dead

Incidentally, Islam teachings deny all three of these claims, haha. Poor Dr. Qureshi...he had quite an awakening, let me tell you. Now, I'm not going to go through his whole life-changing paradigm shift, but *SPOILER ALERT* he found that these three foundational pillars of Christianity stood strong against all manner of testing.

Jesus IS the one true God! He WAS crucified and KILLED on the cross (His death is very important; many Muslims believe that He was crucified, but that He did not actually die)! And best of all, He was RESURRECTED, completing the transaction to pay for a sin debt so big it makes America look like a modest middle-income family that is sensible with their finances.

Reading his book was a beautiful complement to the general heightened awareness I have about Jesus' sacrifice during the Easter season, and I'm very grateful for that :)

It also challenged me as a Christian to know the Bible more, to search for answers and to make sure my faith rests on a firm foundation of facts and evidence.

Ooh, that was another thing he touched on! The idea of faith. He said that as Christians, we should have faith in God because we KNOW HIM. We know what He's like - that He's holy and mighty and loving and righteous -, and therefore, we can have assurance in Him always. And the way to know God is to delve into His word, to validate what you learn, and to pray and commune with Him as often as is possible.

Yeah, so as you can see, I am a fan of this book, and Dr. Qureshi in general. I feel I am just rambling now, I am going to end off now, haha.
