THE OFFICE OF THE CROWN PRINCESS IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE OFFICE OF THE KING OF SWITZERLAND, ARE DELIGHTED TO ANNOUNCE THE BIRTH OF THEIR SECOND CHILD: ELIZABETH VICTORIA MADELEINE, COUNTESS OF CARRICK. 

several ceremonies were observed in connection to the newest member of the royal family. including the official notice at edinburgh castle and the special meeting of the privy council, in which the princess’ name and titles were announced as the official heir to the crown princess. 

catherine is a mum of two i can’t believe it. also i have wiki pages for the kids.

AT MIDDAY ON THE 1ST OF NOVEMBER A SMALL GROUP OF PROTESTERS GATHERED ON THE FOOT OF CASTLE ROCK, with signs demanding that HRH the crown princess step down from her position and in turn having HRH the duchess of ross take her place. the group insisted that the crown princess’ stance in keeping her eldest son from the scottish line of succession was against the interests of the crown, and that she too closely aligned herself with sweden. 

the two houses of parliament released a joint statement asserting their unyielding support of the crown and the marriage of the crown princess, as well as sharing the faith they have that HRH the crown princess will serve her country dutifully as she always has. sir walter scott, duke of argyll and lord privy seal, had this to say about the protesters: “—to assume that the crown princess will be less inclined in protecting scotland’s interests and furthering her ambitions is wrong ( ... ) the very bedrock of our country is the integrity of our rulers, to think otherwise is treasonous.” the duke of argyll’s address garnered as much positive response as negative, even from those not sympathetic to the protesters’ agenda.

HRH the crown princess’ approval rating has fallen 8% since the birth of prince frederick, the first time a royal birth has caused downturn in approval rates in history. as of the publishing of this article, the palace, the crown princess, and the duchess of ross has not released statements regarding the matter.

several ceremonies were observed in connection to the newest member of the royal family. 

STATEMENT OF WITNESS:

a digital statement of witness was taken in the morning. during the ceremony, HM the queen, the lord privy seal, the lord president of the house of commons, and the lady great chamberlain, met the new member of the royal family via video link. 

THE OFFICIAL NOTICE AT EDINBURGH CASTLE: 

a notice was placed in the entrance of edinburgh castle upon castle rock, in which witnesses to the prince has signed a statement stating that both mother and child are doing well. well wishers are able to see the notice before it will be taken down roughly 72 hours after the announcement is made. 

MEETING OF THE PRIVY COUNCIL: 

HM the queen has called a special meeting of the privy council in which the prince’s full name and title was announced. in accordance to the letters patent signed by HM the queen before the wedding of HRH the crown princess, the prince will belong to house stuart-grünenberg. the house will be a cadet branch of house stuart that will serve as its head after the crown princess ascends the throne. the prince will be called: frederick wolfgang charles, and has been bestowed the title: his royal highness, prince of scotland and switzerland. 

as prince frederick will not be in line to the scottish throne, HRH the duchess of ross remains second-in-line after HRH the crown princess.

THE CEREMONY

performed by cardinal joseph mackay, archbishop of st andrews and edinburgh — coincidentally the same priest who had performed princess catherine’s baptism and first communion — the wedding was held in st. eric’s cathedral in stockholm. the pope himself gave a papal dispensation for a lutheran to be married in a catholic church by a papal cardinal. the ceremony is a little under an hour and a half, and features a short communion within the mass. as if trying to make up for the ceremony being in sweden, many scottish traditions were observed in the ceremony, including the quaich cup being passed around between the bridal party just after the ceremonies concluded. the bride was walked down the aisle by her father, the prince consort, as per scottish tradition, and was met half-way by the groom, as per swedish tradition. 

THE TRAVEL

guests were transported from stockholm to edinburgh via chartered private planes, the distance between the two countries being a short two-and-a-half hour flight. 

THE RECEPTION

from the private airport, guests were transported to the waldorf astoria hotel where they are invited to rest before the reception in holyroodhouse palace at 7pm. after the five-course dinner, the reception portion started with the traditional wedding march accompanied by the palace bagpipers, before fusing into the more contemporary ‘first dance’ accompanied by a live band. basically there’s a lot of reel dancing and scotch whisky and kilts. during the planning catherine suggested that they put more swedish traditions to balance the scottish, but theo put his foot down when she found out about this tradition: 

so now there’s probably just a string of drunk relatives doing speeches during the long dinner before the dancing/party portion, and theo calls it a day.

SATURDAY 28TH OF NOVEMBER 

in the midst of political unrest, the press offices of the scottish and swedish royal families released a joint statement regarding the two crown heirs’ intentions of marriage. 

many would not be surprised after pictures surfaced of the couple’s public outing in oxford university, despite the lack of confirmation from either party. sources close to the couple had been quoted saying that the young royals were introduced by mutual friends shortly after princess catherine’s engagement with prince andrew of england ended this spring. royal analysts have contributed the quick pace of the couple’s engagement to the swedish crown prince’s upcoming ascension to the throne in three years. after king frederick’s untimely passing in the prince’s childhood, sweden has been ruled by a regency under prince elliot, brother to the late king. 

prince theodor had made waves after pulling sweden into a new alliance and taking a strong stance against france’s position in belgium, and now have shocked swedish citizens for going forward with a marriage in the midst of worldwide political instability. the young couple had began a short tour of stockholm and edinburgh in order to celebrate their engagement, appearing to celebrate with their extended families. firstly appearing in the gardens of the royal palace in stockholm, keen-eyed supporters have spotted queen emelina’s engagement ring upon princess catherine’s finger. 

as of the publishing of this article, no date has been set for the wedding.

IN THE MIDST OF POLITICAL UNCERTAINTY IN THE ISLES, PRINCESS CATHERINE OF SCOTLAND FINDS TIME FOR ROMANCE

spotted walking down high street in the university of oxford, princess catherine and prince theodor of sweden ducked into the princess’ car and made their way off-campus. many have been quick to point out that despite the princess’ extensive social circle of royals who studied at oxford university, citing that this could be her many meetings with like-minded, academically inclined royals who were similarly enrolled in the university. however, prince theodor famously served in his native sweden before going to uppsala university, and have not been enrolled in oxford university at any point. rumours began almost instantly of the nature of the two royals’ relationship, and the public began to speculate of what it might mean for both sweden and scotland. 

the tragic passing of king frederick of sweden almost two decades ago had forced sweden into a regency under the crown prince’s uncle, the late king’s brother: prince elliot, duke of skåne. it has been widely accepted that the crown prince will be taking the throne on his 35th birthday in three years, and will be within the best position to do so with his own line of succession formally put forth. despite so, there has been no rumours about the prince’s relationships or any future wedding plans. that is, until the sighting of the prince with princess catherine.

political commentators have been quick to analyse the probable future of governing between the two countries, as the laws in both countries have allowed the union of two crown heirs as long as the governance be kept separate. there has been no amendments to either laws as of yet. prof. stephen callanach of the university of st andrews have stated that the union will be beneficial for scotland to better enter the trading market of the nordics while simultaneously serving as a bridge to promote sweden’s interests in the isles. for the complete political analysis, click here.

GETTIN’ HITCHED / the royal princesses got engaged in rapid succession! the queen is looking forward to many grandchildren, says royal source. 

after the crown princess’ engagement with prince andrew last summer, we thought scotland would host one very important royal wedding after the new years. however, although we might not be hosting the world’s royal elite in st. giles cathedral, scotland might be on the spotlight with two more brides in the horizon! 

princess margot was very recently engaged with ( who we thought to only be ) her childhood friend, prince ilija of croatia. it was huge shock to everyone! especially since we always thought that the relationship between the two was platonic, at best. according to a certain royal insider: “(the princess and prince ilija)’s love story started in their childhood, and frankly the engagement is long overdue. after quite a few hurdles they finally found their way back to each other and it’s really quite sweet to see.” 

the two made a splash at the wedding of crown prince aslan of turkey and princess layla of egypt, arriving together with a brand new diamond on margot’s finger. since the lowkey princess had never been one to accessorise with such blinding bling, we could all assume what that means! 

our favourite ‘lil trainwreck also found herself in quite a binding position. after an explosive fight between tilly and catherine during christmas, we at the scottish sun certainly thought that this engagement with prince félix of venezuela would quickly fall apart... but we’re all quite pleasantly surprised! looking very much loved up in the photographs taken during the turkish wedding reception, it looks like tilly might be warming up to the idea of a lifetime of matrimony.
