Uttered secrets relieve pained ears

Voices beyond the human hearing

Whisperings penetrate their deep

Into the torn and wounded soul

Unexpectedly, and unheard of

Hushed in tender loving care

An awakening, in surprises

Without sound, no words

Only vibrations in waves

Intimacy with the wind

Surfing, sailing, safely

Along the still waters

To abode unknown

O! Holy sanctuary

No more secrets

In sacred union

For two in one

Love beloved

One in two

CASSANDRA

(A Greek Mythology)

Oh! Cassandra,

beautiful princess

and daughter of Priam,

the king of Troy.

Love of the greek god Apollo

Thus charmed, he bestows on her

The gift of prophecy.

She rejects his love.

As punishment,

Apollo puts a curse on her,

that no one will ever believe her.

This Knowledge of the Future

becomes a cursed pestilence,

The Agony of Foreknowledge.

Medical science and psychology

have classified this condition as

The Cassandra Effect,

under various classifications,

depending on individual manifestations,

presenting as a complex or a syndrome,

a phenomenon or predicament,

a dilemma, even a curse,

associated with certain

deadly or untreatable diseases

in early epidemics, such as

bubonic plagues and smallpox,

typhoid, scarlet fever, tuberculosis,

bad omens and divination,

and more modern ones,

namely, mustard gas and AIDS,

including deadly viral pandemics,

such as, Ebola, SARS,

and today, the Coronavirus.

Oh! Cassandra

Stop your prophecies.

Is it possible you have

the gift of curses?

You have created

these diseases and pestilence?

Love your God, and be rewarded

Love me, and be comforted.

Let your beauty turn to pity

And save us from judgement.

Oh! Beloved Cassandra.

Days of wine and roses

Dances twining wild poses

Stand still to kiss the rain

Hop, run, without refrain

Stretching to catch the wind

Flying out by will and mind

Singing praises of a kingdom

Walking the water to freedom

Good wishes without wishing

The gift of love is flourishing

A dream for everything

Hope sweetly for nothing

by a fire place

close my eyes

at a slow pace

let my mind fly

rest with a drink

the music plays

mood for a wink

air perfume sprays

memories drift

a thousand miles

images shift

pictures of smiles

my heart to keep

floating in clouds

a hammock sleep

silence aloud

dawn hides the dark

coffee and bread

a walk in the park

peace in my head

absence of fear

work, play and pray

THE ENERGY SHIFT

This thing is important to me today

exactly as it was yesterday,

and will be the same tomorrow.

Thoughts, serious thoughts,

just waiting for them to turn into action.

Thoughts have energy, you know

And energy generates action

Sometimes, I need to chase

just to catch something

So it goes on and on

until these thoughts just collapse,

you know, like a heart attack

And they die.

Then it suddenly dawns on me.

I have forgotten my other innate thoughts,

thoughts about meaning and purpose.

Thoughts stray, and before I know it,

I have left my heart at home,

away from me and my mindful thoughts,

because I had been too busy.

I forgot to take my heart with me.

Gosh! My heart is missing,

kidnapped by some great energy.

I learn that

my thoughts can stand on their own,

they don’t really need me.

And I discover something good.

just have to name it

need not look elsewhere

the kingdom is within me

daily dwelling place

for my status now

is by life experiences

on how I have lived

what more I become

depends on the choices made

BE THANKFUL

Be thankful

and don’t expect any more

Begin the day humbly

Observe and scan

Don’t miss any thing

See!

That stranger who smiles to you

The man holding the door opened for you

That jolly coffee barista at your service

A colleague waves as she hurries past you

Raindrops rolling down the window pane

There are so many happy moments

in a day, if only one cares to notice

Don’t fly off the handle over one

ugly incident, and say it spoils your day

Count your blessings; be thankful
