What is the purpose of weekly, biweekly, semi-monthly, monthly pay periods?
This question came to mind because I am stoked that tomorrow is my payday. I am semi-monthly meaning I get paid the 7th and 22nd of every month, no matter what. Pay day Tuesday is sometimes a real thing for me.
My question is why is my company semi-monthly whereas in construction I was weekly, and in retail I was biweekly? What is the purpose of different companies having different pay time frames?
