Improvements at Cowardin and Semmes would remove slip lane, add protected bike lanes
Looking at what might be coming down the pipeline, in addition to the Forest Hill Ave Phase II project the city is also seeking state funding to "protect" the Cowardin and Semmes intersection.
Improvements include removing the southbound slip lane and adding protected bicycle lanes on the north side of Semmes Avenue from 20th Street to 14th Street and on the south side of Semmes Avenue from just east of 20th Street to Cowardin Avenue.
If funded, construction is scheduled to be completed in August 2031.
