When Southeastern Michigan Transportation Authority (SEMTA) ended Detroit commuter service in 1983, Metro-North acquired the rebuilt steam-heated coaches and pressed them into service for a few years. Note the train is hooked up to a stationary steam boiler (housed in a boxcar) on Track 5. March 3, 1984

SEMTA GP10 903 Detroit, MI
This looks like it was one classy commuter operation, at least on the outside. This is Semta GP10 headed towards downtown Detroit as it goes through Milwaukee Jct. I don't know what made it a "GP10" but it sure looks like an ex GTW passenger GP to me. Too bad this service is gone. September 17, 1979
