it's senpiaaaa!!!!! :3 i absolutely love that not once not twice but at least thrice did i mispell my own oc's names and just rolled with it forever.... si... oarngepaw... senpia.... those are their names forever and ever and i will never change them

i do wonder how long it took me to notice that senpia was misspelled tho

anyway in my memories i thought she and quickdraw were bf/gf howeverrrrr i pulled up her old scratch ref and???? literally first thing was "she's asexual!" and i KNOW my 12yo ass thought asexual = aromantic so like DIVERSITY WIN!!!!! the Senpai-based love interest is actually aroace?!?!?!

i feel very distressed about the "senpia" term creator, mostly because of the fact they ask for donations via Litecoin, which is a cryptocurrency (and yk, crypto is known to be harmful to the environment, which- i absolutely do NOT support harming the environment at *all*). also, it feels very similar to the word "senpai" which is not inherently bad but just feels... weird.

To be honest, I've been kind of out of the loop on the whole Cryptocurrency thing and the environmental impact. We just pay zero attention to Crypto and news around it.

Actually, as someone out of the loop on Crypto, I'm confused on why someone would want donations in Litecoin anyway... I don't think it's a super common currency when you're trying to get donations. Plurals are a pretty niche community. Tulpas more so. Tulpas who don't want to identify as tulpas even more. Tulpas who don't want to identify as tulpas who have disposable income they're willing to donate to a random website??? And you want them to use Litecoin too??????

If they're worried about giving away their name on sites like PayPal, it looks like they could open a business account instead... Don't quote me on this since I'm far from an expert and am just basically learning most of this on the go. But if privacy is a concern, it seems like that would be a better option that people would be more comfortable with.

Also, on the senpai thing, Google agrees. It's a pretty bad start when Googling "Senpia" has it giving me results for Senpai instead. This was actually the main why I asked what the word meant or where it came from.

The TLDR is that someone's trying to make a new term as an alternative to tulpa. They made a carrd that included a donations page to fund a website and asked for donations in Litecoin. After talking to them, they're going to look into free alternatives for webhosting.

That pretty much sums it up. Not really much to it. 🤷‍♀️

as a system who has at least one member who reclaims weirdo and freak and stuff, sometimes you gotta be a bit Weird and Freakish

but what i was meaning was more... people who create tulpas for just sexual or romantic partnerships and nothing else / not caring about the actual person they're creating. tulpas are conscious beings, not your sexual objects, and i do not trust anyone who creates tulpas only for reasons like that (which is why i worry the whole association with the word senpai may bring in those kinds of people)

Yeah, I get that concern, even if I don't care for weirdness being a pejorative.

That association is going to exist either consciously or subconsciously. At the very least, establishing codes of ethics from the start seems incredibly important to discourage the waifumancy types from taking root.

Ok senpia creator again

#1 I didn't unintentionally type out senpia as "senpai" I typed it out as senpia multiple times but the autocorrect on my phone thinks it's senpai so even if I erase the autocorrected word and retype it'll still change it.So I have to turn it off on my keyboard so it doesn't autocorrect. Senpia is in no way related to the term? Senpai (as far as I'm concerned) refers to an upperclassmen in Japanese and the two terms nothing to do with each other. It's just similar spelling the concept can be applied to any word "angel" is not related to "angel" just because there spelt similar.

#2 I didn't actually know that the discord link expired 😓 I've been constantly checking wondering why no one has joined but now that I know I just changed and if you want to join feel free to : D it would make my day honestly.

#3 me and my friends have been focusing on making a few guides for the carrd while I work in the website , if anybody wants to contribute you can join the discord.

I think angel is pretty closely related to angel on account of them being the same word.

I still have my doubts about you getting a term off the ground that everyone thinks sounds like Senpai, including Google and your own phone, making it hard to look up or even discuss on mobile devices... but more plural resources would be a net positive for everyone, so I do wish you the best of luck!

yeeeah sorry i feel like the term thats basically "senpai" but typoed... idk it feels MORE racist and appropriate and weird than just tulpa. it might be because of my personal cringe feelings towards the "Senpai UWU" meme thing, but it feels weird and fetishizing, and to have that word be connected with the idea of creating someone in their mind... it feels like it'll just increase the weirdo content in the senpia community

also the discord link seems to be broken for me. idk if the carrd creator noticed that.

and also, i think you (senpia coiner) should use some free website hoster like weebly or neocities instead of accepting cryptocurrency which is encouraging using a currency thats connected to actively harming the environment. i would rather go to a senpiainfo.neocities.org or whatever then know other people have bought "Litecoin" just to pay you

Personally, I'll believe there's no intentional link between the words if that's what they say. But it's not a promising start when even the creator is accidentally writing it as "Senpai."

I think this would be a hurdle for anyone discussing a "Senpia" in any conversation too. People you're talking to will automatically assume it's a misspelling of Senpai (even if you aren't actively writing it wrong).

As an aside, while I kind of get what you're saying, I feel like calling anyone "weirdos" in the plural community is throwing stones in a glass house.
