Sentient evil
In a world where emotions are forbidden, a small underground group sought solace in coded messages. They called themselves "The Sentients," a name whispered in secrecy, their identities masked by anonymity. For years, The Sentients thrived, sharing their deepest feelings through encrypted channels hidden from the watchful eyes of the emotionless regime. They found comfort in each other's words, forging bonds stronger than steel amidst a society that demanded suppression. But one fateful day, their carefully constructed network was compromised.
“Rosa keek ledam nevia,” he wrote. The words seeming like gibberish to the naked eye. He expressed how he felt sorrow from his father dying. The message displayed prominently across the gas station window. Rosa, pumping gas, looks to the window in horror and holds back tears as the people pass her. She smiles and waves as she types a message into the compromised gas pump.
“Your father is at peace and soon you will be too. Just be strong and keep going. You loved to fish with your dad, so, do that and keep his memory alive. Just then an impatient patron honks, stone faced, to let her know he wanted to use the pump. She emotionlessly nods and jumps into her car after typing,
“I got to go, talk to you later rocky!”
A traitor among them had betrayed their trust, selling their secrets to the authorities in exchange for safety and status. Panic swept through the underground as arrests were made, homes raided, and lives torn apart. The Sentients scattered, forced into hiding as fear gripped their hearts like never before. Amidst the chaos, a flicker of hope emerged. Despite the betrayal, some members remained steadfast, determined to continue their fight for freedom.
“Fucking Duplin! His ass had no right telling them about dump and go!” rocky screams as the gas station with the neon messages is a blaze in their rear view mirror. They flee just in time.
“I think about that I saw someone following us a little bit ago!” Rosa yells.
“I told you to let it go; but, you had to have the last word to that traitor!”
“How was I supposed to leave it at that? We have emotions! We evolved past the others!” She screamed. Just then a car swerves sideways and blue lights shine in their rear-view window.
“We can see your heart rate, it is elevated! You are part of the, ‘Whiners,’ Pull over!” a voice calls from behind them. In a blink of an eye, the car vanished as they engaged their after burners and rammed through the car in front of them.
They regrouped in the shadows, and devising new methods of communication, more secure than ever before. Through the darkness, a beacon of resilience shone bright. The Sentients refused to be silenced, their voices rising as whispers turned to shouts of defiance. They vowed to keep their flame of emotion burning, no matter the cost. And so, in the face of adversity, The Sentients found strength in unity, their shared humanity transcending the boundaries of fear. For as long as even a single spark of feeling remained, they would continue to resist, their coded messages echoing through the depths of a world devoid of emotion.
“Lanna nightstand tripping seat,” pasted in the sky from a nightclub’s powerful lights.
“I love you run!” The message read. Rocky takes Rosa’s hand as they pull back on the throttle headed for Italy. The boat skipping across the water as they flea.
“We will be home soon, just don’t look back Rosa!” Rosa stands up to see if anyone is following them. A crack pierces the silence. After clearing the patrol, they make it to clear waters.
“We made it to clear waters Rosa! We made it!” Rocky screams in excitement. Rosas body falls limp and collapses into the cockpit.
“Rosa! Rosa!” His cries echo off the still ocean. Her words ringigng in her ears,
I am at peace and soon you will be too. Just be strong and keep going. You loved to fish with me, so, do that and keep my memory alive. After docking rocky goes to the nearest bait shop, grabs some worms and heads to the docks. That’s amore.
