BREAKING: loser idiot writes grief noun instead of grieve verb, quote ruined
To explain some of the design features:
SEONGWOO;
the ruffles and ribbons make him the spotlight, exactly how the segyein intended. It also makes him look delicate
the V neck makes him exposed and vulnerable, showing how even those built for success have weak points
the same is for the open back. It also draws attention to how he was (technically) stabbed in the back by minyul (for leaving and not telling SW directly, with SW only finding out through Amado and/or Jungseok)
the high heels/platforms are meant to represent how he’s “above” everyone else because he was genetically engineered for success.
his half tied hair is meant to represent that he isn’t fully there in the moment.
his neck ribbon is a reference to the collars the children would have to wear in anakt (the garden). While neither SW or JS needed to wear them, it serves as a metaphorical reminder of how they’re trapped in alien stage. His ribbon is meant to look pretty in order to communicate he is the star.
his blue accents are matching JS, but also serve to show how composed he is (blue’s connotations are sad, yes, but also serve as a sense of calm.) SW treats some things as insignificant as he struggles with identifying emotions, it links to the phrase “water off a duck’s back
the semi-transparent clothing is meant to represent the clarity/clearness of SW’s “goal”, to win alnst. not fully see-through because he wants other things, but he knows his purpose
JUNGSEOK;
the half-suit is meant to look neat to emphasise how put together he is, but the asymmetrical design is a nod to how he can sometimes let his anger get the better of him.
his design is a suit. Which is something that matches him - formal, presentable, and organised
the slight v neck for his undershirt is also representative of his vulnerability, but JS is more secretive then SW and prone to being callous to cover up care
the gold in JS design is representative of being 🥇 and wanting to achieve/stay the top
the shoulder ruffle matches with SW and provides flair to also make his design seem interesting to the audience
his hair being fully up is a nod to him being fully immersed in his and SW’s round
his bow is meant to be in the shape of a butterfly, which represents renewal/change, and is a reference to JS’s realisation that he’s changed his mind about SW from being nothing more to a competitor to someone he takes interest in romantically. The bow is also a reference to the collaring, but adds a layer of restriction onto JS as it also represents the tight leash his segyein keeps on him to ensure his success.
Their outfits are themed/take inspo from canon alnst’s round 5 (mizi/luka), and somewhat follows the theories that Luka made r5 for hyuna. SW and JS compete against each other, but SW sees minyul during/after the round.
