Stormy Faye The Christian Runaway Reposted from @maggiewalkernps Maggie L. Walker used her newspaper, The St. Luke Herald, much like we use social media today, to engage in a dialogue with readers on a variety of important topics. Not one to shy away from criticizing people in positions of great power, Walker printed this in September 1906 after President Teddy Roosevelt stated he did not believe "the door of hope" and opportunity to be shut to anyone regardless of their race: "The South has driven the Negro out of the legislature, out of Congress, municipal, state and national, out of citizenship, out of the state militia and now attempts to drive him out of the regular army. Will the South succeed?....Will somebody tell us what has become of 'the door of hope?'" - #regrann #FaithForTheJourney https://www.facebook.com/groups/708592369301103/?ref=share #FaithForTheJourney @stormy_faye StormyFaye.com Use this link when you shop: https://stormy-faye-llc.myshopify.com/collections/all #StormyFayeTheChristianRunaway #September1st2020 https://www.instagram.com/p/CEmmH8xjViM/?igshid=boxbwyaplqd8
