Cresthorn secretly admires Atrion despite all the sharp comments and put-downs.
The blonde rogue whirls on the young elf with a fury in her eyes, seizing the poor youth by the collar and hissing angrily through her teeth. “’Why’ would you read that?!” She seethes in exasperation, fire flashing in her gaze before she relents, taking a step back and straightening out his collar with her fingertips.“Now. Whatever you ‘think’ you might have read, were just the idle musings of a drunken mind. You ‘are’ in the business of keeping secrets, yes?” She flashes him a saccharine smile. “So why don’t we just keep those thoughts our…little…secret.” She pats his chest gently for emphasis.——-
OOC: Cresthorn’s sharp commentary and put downs come from a place of genuine irritation. Of all her flaws and virtues, pride is at the forefront - she’s excessively competitive, and will take any opportunity to cut Atrion down to her level. When she says she finds him infuriating, she is not lying or exaggerating. That being said, one must also remember that Cresthorn is a duelist. She takes who she perceives to be the most skilled combatant she can find, and challenges them repeatedly. It is this mindset that draws her to Atrion. Whatever else she may think of him, she does hold his skillset - in particular, his prowess in melee combat - in extremely high regard. She’s not easily impressed, but he has managed to do so.More than that, she admires him as a leader. In her time observing him, she has witnessed him take in a band of relative misfits, and direct them into arguably First Light’s most elite unit. Beyond his leadership and tactical skills, she admires the loyalty he has to those under his command, and the lengths he is willing to go to to protect, train, and serve them. In short, despite appearances to the contrary, @highstalker has earned her loyalty, her respect - and her interest.
