The 100 Question

So, I’ve only really seen season 1 thus far, and I’m starting season 2 now. My question pertains to season 1 and the information I got from -just- season 1.  The kids are breaking off their wristbands, everyone thinks they’re dying because of Earth’s unlivable atmosphere, you feel me? Except a few people are like, “Duh they’re teens they do the opposite of what we tell them. We shoulda told them to be society’s fuckups and watch them  be upstanding citizens.”  So then, the people in space are like, ‘We’ve gotta take oxygen away from a portion of people right now.” Right?   So, like, they’re not sure about the atmosphere on Earth being livable because teenagers seem to be dying but at the same time they’re teenagers. But they-are- sure that oxygen is depleting and they need to help preserve it by sentencing people to death.  IT SEEMS TO ME. THE SMART THING TO DO. WOULD BE TO SEND A BUNCH OF FREAKING ADULTS DOWN IN A SECOND EXPEDITION TO EARTH. THEN IF THEY DIE ON EARTH, THEY WERE GOING TO DIE ANYWAY FROM A LACK OF OXYGEN, BUT NOW THEY HAVE A CHANCE TO LIVE AND THEY’RE STILL NOT TAKING UP OXYGEN. AND EVEN THEN YOU KNOW FOR SURE ABOUT EARTH’S DEADLY ATMOSPHERE. ON THE OTHERHAND IF THEY LIVE, YOU KNOW THAT THE TEENAGERS ARE A BUNCH OF LITTLE PUNKS AND THAT THE EARTH’S ATMOSPHERE IS LIVABLE AND YOU GO DOWN. AND IT’S TWO BIRDS WITH ONE STONE AND A POSSIBLE CHANCE THAT THE PEOPLE YOU SENTENCED TO DEATH WILL LIVE.  WHY DIDN’T THIS HAPPEN? I’M LOOKING AT YOU, PRESIDENT SCREWUP.
