We’re re-reading various season 1 episodes and, episode 39:
lol RIP.
You can tell I like a character when I start imagining them having frustrating experiences with therapists over their inexplicable bizarre trauma <3
(It’s just fascinating to me how much pre-Vast Mike Crew could come off as just, like, agoraphobic associated with a specific phobia of thunderstorms caused by a traumatic childhood experience. Like, you take one look at the guy and that’s clearly what’s happening. Why would you think any different?)
It's nice being able to write again :)
What if, instead of doing literally goddamn anything we need to do today, I just sat down and wrote 1k+ words-and-counting of Mx. Michael D. Stortion having an absolute fucking breakdown? 👌
<extremely niche shittalking>
Um, why are you claiming to be an avatar of the Spiral if you’re not psychotic? :/ Sounds like you’re dealing with some internalised ableism there, to not want to call yourself mentally ill. 😔
We’re about halfway through Thirteen Storeys, and I have a theory that this was written in response to people going, “TMA is entirely About Capitalism and nothing else, and if you have different takeaways then it’s probably because you don’t see what’s wrong with capitalism. :)”
It’s like. “[Jonny voice] You want to see ‘About Capitalism’? I’ll show you About Capitalism.”
Hahahah I didn’t mean to vague such a specific post -- the idea of “the Spiral is Psychosis, Psychosis is the Spiral” is prevalent enough (and yeah, @thedeafprophet, there were other things about that particular post that made me go “You know you’re complaining about canonical things, not just fanon stereotypes, right?” Since when is the Distortion about hallucinations, anyway?)
Like, to be fair, I also woke up this morning annoyed at the usual “saying you’re multiple but don’t have DID is ableist” nonsense, so that’s another big part of it. :’)
Then again, I very consciously write Michael as -- not “manic-depressive,” but let’s say “in ways that feel sympathetic to me, a Borderline Manic-Depressive™”, so maybe I shouldn’t be too loud about “connecting Michael to An Mental Illness is aaaaa.” :V
