❛   read .   silently  read  a  book  alongside  my  muse .

"Are you reading the book I wrote again?" She clearly was- he can tell as much even when he's not looking at her, given he can feel her looking at him sometimes with a fond smile. The young woman was the type of woman to seek out good literature regardless of the source, she had always been the type to criticise it too- but she only criticised him when he asked for a deeper opinion on his writing, otherwise she would act like a doting parent and tell him how his storylines flowed well. It was embarrassing but given his own family's lack of support on that front, he couldn't help but be thankful for it. "I thought your interest was more geared towards the macabre..."

And he would say it was, given the book she had recommended to him was currently open and his eyes were currently raking over the text- the horror, the atmosphere, the descriptions, they were all so dark, depressing even. Like a horrible accident, the contents were horrifying but he could not stop reading it. She told him it was one of the tamer things she has read, and he believed her, but he has to wonder how she can remain so upbeat while reading things like this.

"Though, perhaps should you write a book, you'd let me read it- even if it is dark. It's only fair."
