“I wonder what it’s like beyond the palace walls?”
Lea looked over, not sure if that was addressed to him or not. He let it hang in the air for a moment as he struggled with the fire he was building in Ienzo’s fireplace–damn wood was still wet–before daring to speak up.
“I dunno, maybe you could see for yourself?”
…Actually that probably sounded too rude. Or informal, at least. Lea pretended to be totally absorbed in the fire. “I mean, if you were careful.” Lea didn’t really make a habit of speaking to his superiors, so it couldn’t be said that he knew Ienzo’s status or where he stood in line to the crown–but pretty much any child in the castle who wasn’t a servant like Lea didn’t wander far from it. “It’s not as scary as it seems.”
