Painful Beginnings

He sat up with sudden urgency. Coughed up more blood. What was wrong with him? He'd felt tormented for so long. Well, at least the horrible ripping pain had faded and his fever was gone. He opened his eyes and looked around the dark room. It seemed as if the servants had left some food for him. He sighed, shaking his head. It was not as if he could stomach any food.

His head hurt, and he felt so suffocated in this stuffy room - he needed to get out. As he attempted to get out of bed, a few servants came rushing in, as if they were assigned the task of pinning him to his bed. Screw the servants, he was going to hurl if he didn't get some fresh air. He glared at them, daring them to challenge his wishes, and wiped his bloody mouth on his sleeve. When they stepped back in fear, he grabbed a blue silk robe on a nearby chair and slipped it on while he strolled down the corridor, waving away any attempts for help.

Finally, he reached the stables. It took him a while to find his horse: he had to hold onto the posts and take a few deep breaths, but he eventually found her, strapping a saddle onto her back, and led her out of the stables. Once they got outdoors, he climbed onto her back and trotted of in a random direction.
