Hello!!!
@best-weavenest-obviously
"Oh, Greetings, young Weavenest! Is there something that you needed from me? I do not have much to offer besides a wisp perchance, or a piece of bamboo.."
To keep things sorted, I decided to write a post about a passion project of mine, called Setting A-Blaze, or SAB for short. It was created in 2017 and has been in development since, and details have changed a lot here and there. Personally, it's currently at the place I'm most satisfied with for it, so sometimes it's good to take longer to release your stories because you never know how much better it could turn out to be, without regretting it when it would be too late.
It was initially written as a game with a team, and stayed so for 4 years. Personal life choices happened and I've decided to work on it by myself, so I have more authority on what I want to do with it. One of the best choices I've ever made, and just like that is how I managed to get it at the place it deserves. I was planning to make it a webcomic... could turn into a book, too, with illustrations included. I'm really enjoying that idea for it!
Okay enough blabbering. What is Setting A-Blaze about? it's about a future setting where humans and bug aliens coexist. The bug aliens, as the name implies, are aliens with insect traits, and they have many forms to them, most of them taking the monster girl type design. The "heroes" are fighter jet pilots from an Air Base, and they take care of the bug aliens that could be deemed a threat to them or to all of humanity. It takes place in Brazil, in the fictional city of Taturanaçu.
Our main protagonist is Kellen. She's a 21 year old woman who dreamed to be a pilot since she was 8. She's energetic, confident, stubborn, and certainly fired up. She doesn't think twice before acting, and at times is very clumsy, but she doesn't let these little things bother her. It's very hard for her to give up on her goals.
She hates the bug aliens, so you can count on her to deal with them.
Next up is her girlfriend, called Edith. She's 23 y/o and also a pilot, as well as an aircraft engineer. She's quite the opposite of Kellen: a bit more reserved, calm, responsible, and will think twice before doing anything. But like I said, she's quite the opposite of her gf, so sometimes she can also be stubborn, and getting on her nerves may be a very bad idea. She also got strength, and is skilled with guns. More importantly: she is a captain. She won't intimidate you though, only if that is necessary.
She's neutral about the bug aliens, and is simply doing her job.
Kellen and Edith are the heart and soul of SAB, with everything connecting to them whether together or individually. Edith is a hopeless romantic, while Kellen struggles to show that she cares, because romance makes her flustered, but they work together really well and love each other, and may have their moments of bittering over small stuffs, but nothing too serious.
Another character worth introducing is Louise. She's also 23 y/o and works as an aircraft engineer. An important friend for Kellen and later gets along well with Edith, she's the one responsible for building Kellen's fighter jet, named Scarlet Darter S-22. She looks intimidating, but in reality she's a fun friend who will infodump about any nerd stuffs she knows about, and especially if she really likes you. She also got little robots that she created to help her with her job.
Since she's not a pilot, it's not her business to form any opinions about the bug aliens, but she sees them the same way she sees people: be cool to me and we might be friends, otherwise I'll be ready to build something that will destroy you!
Of course there's several other things I could talk about it, but that would lead to spoiler territory :P I'm very passionate about this project since it's an amalgamation of things I love talking/writing about (astronomy, insects, history, biology etc). Its main theme is about the coexistence of humans and insects, with some added critique at people that think the eradication of them would be a good idea.
I'm always happy to deliver any questions you may have about it ❤🔥💙 thanks for reading.
*Relocates Weavenest Atla to be in the wisp thicket.*
”a- wh- what?”
@best-weavenest-obviously
oh, it be interesting in here...
@leafgliderofficial
"Hello, little leaf glider...." *She bends down to get a better look at them, tilting her head.* "Very tiny you are.... You are from Verdania, correct..?"
[A mechanical puppet descended from the Underworks.]
What is this place. An area forgien to both The Citadel and I.
*Ephemeral flinches when the unfamiliar thing appeared. She stays in guard, though does not fight. ... yet.*
"This is my thicket. Who are you, and what do you want?"
Are you a burning bug, because you're smoking-
I meant. Are you a wisp. because you're on fire-
I meant. Are you... A thicket. Because golly, are you a wisp.
[Nailed it!~]
”…what? What does this mean, bug? My hands and feet are made if fire, yes? I can summon fire? Is.. is this what you are saying? What?”
hey so are you like. the manager of the wisp thicket
because ever since i got cursed with fire magic (long story) (actually not really but i don't feel like explaining) your stupid cult keeps sending me newsletters and recruitment junk mail and i'm sick of it and i wanna unsubscribe (EVEN THOUGH I NEVER SUBSCRIBED IN THE FIRST PLACE)
”Not entirely… I am the Wisp Thicket, if that is what you mean. I do not think I can do much about the letters my children continue to send, though I can tell them to stop. … im unsure if they will listen however..”
You've felt a familiar aura entering your lands...
"Ephemeral? May I talk to you?" He yells.
*A gust of wind passes by him.*
"Flame child..... You return to my Thicket... What do you need of me?...."
