#setting: calamity

A depiction of calamity by an unknown artist two years after the calamity event. The setting calamity takes place before and after an entire civilization of people were cursed to become monsters. Pre curse the central kingdom lead a siege to destroy all magic people, animals and objects. When the last wizard was killed he released a curse that affected all humans in the world. With no magic items left there was no way to remove the curse and over time the kingdom began to split as new societies, cults, religions and towns formed.

I’m very exited to talk more about this setting.

was there a reason the kingdom in Calamity tried to kill off all magic and creatures with magic? idk if you've explained this before I don't go here

Like most mass killings in history it was just fear mongering and hateful bullshit. The church saw magic users as powerful and beasts that used it as dangerous so they tried to get rid of them. In the end destroying all knowledge of magic made it so that no one knew if a curse could be reversed not that the spell allowed people to reverse it.

Wait . Did in your calamity setting humans f#€king genocided sapient non humans into extinction?

It is actually the other way around. Humans in their basal form are extinct in Calamity as the species was split into different monsters as a result of the curse. Humans however did cause the extinction of a lot of megafauna that used magic filling a bunch of niches that the cursed forms filled.

I was thinking of one of the main cults from Calamity. It’s a group who believe in marrying to join two peoples souls together making one pure human soul from the two cursed ones. This group specifically uses has a marriage between a harpy and a centaur. The relationship is not romantic or platonic it is its own relationship entirely. Each part will have their own friends families and partners separate from their soul half.
