pluribus addresses my main concern with severance. which is lack of lesbianism
it’s sooooo telling that during the overtime contingency, jame didn’t even notice “helena” was actually helly. esp bc she was, for obvious reasons, having a shit time of it and also so so so scared - barely keeping it together.
and he doesn’t even notice, because it’s not like he’s allowed helena to have a personality, right? there’s nothing for him to miss!!
if anything, it probably helped that helly was internally freaking the fuck out and trying to say/reveal as little as possible. from what we’ve seen, helena seems to be doing the same thing, albeit over a much longer period of time. trying to keep the facade intact.
so why would jame ever think something was off? a frightened compliant daughter is a frightened compliant daughter (until she isn’t).
thinking abt Gemma on the testing floor waking up from a dream back into a much harsher reality . So.
season 3 MUST deliver mad-scientist ex-wives standing on either side of the uprising against a terrifying corporation-cult
imagining s3 gemma in the getaway car either vaguely recognizing cobel from some Lumon-related intake proceedings (why do I know your face? what’s going on?) or perhaps she never met her face-to-face Before the procedure (devon, who is this?) and then when the Truth comes out, going justifiably, physically wild with rage and the only thing that stops her is when devon tells her that she’s one of two people (they’re aware of) who can help mark
mark doesn’t get enough credit for holding a job (even a severed one) after losing his wife. like buddy I would not even be trying to dig myself out of that hole at that point
so do we think the vials of kier’s blood and nail clippings on cobel’s shrine came into her possession as
a) wintertide fellowship bonus/some kind of valedictorian-graduation gift
b) extremely weird “perk” for her work on the chip (“thanks for letting us steal your technology. thought you might like this” and they’d be 100% right lol)
c) something obtained via covert means - sneaking into some kind of Lumon archival warehouse and taking from a larger collection of Kier Clippings (??) for herself. it’s not blasphemy if she’s going to take good care of them!! (could also see her stealing the vials from Sissy for similar reasons lmao but then you have to ask. where did Sissy get them)
d) ?????
s3 devon mentioning that a certain natalie kalen has infiltrated her life and swayed ricken to do a Lumon-sanctioned rewrite of his book etc etc
cobel scoffing at natalie’s name& devon picking up on it, asking what she knows abt her…Information-gathering mode, innocent question….then immediately getting Way more than she bargained for, complete with some kind of antiquated name-calling (floozy? jezebel? endless possibilities) from cobel. just steady, ice-cold haterism in a transatlantic accent…
then devon cuts her off like “whoa Whoa Whoaaa, i mean I was just … she’s just kind of annoying and I don’t trust her”
cobel, actively envisioning brutal murder: “Of course. Of course. That’s exactly how I feel, naturally,”
