Well I mean the posts about Lady Gaga showing up to an event in a Burqa reminded my of it and kind of got me thinking (Of course she isn't Muslim though so it wasn't alright). But it just got me thinking about people getting scrutinized about appropriations of other 'cultures' when it's actually a tradition of their chosen religion.

Yes, that is it. She isn’t Muslim. That’s the reason. Yes, that’s it. 

It only becomes appropriative if they person is no longer respectful of the fact that PEOPLE ACTUALLY LIVE THIS WAY AND DON’T HAVE AN ‘TURN LIFESTYLE OFF’ BUTTON.

Hey, thank you for answering my question way back when about being mixed xx I have another question/comment that I hope wouldn't offend anyone. But I feel like in a lot of appropriation posts, cultural traditions and religious traditions are being shipped into one appropriation group and I feel like it's a bit upsetting to people who may practice a certain religion that originated and/or more commonly practiced in an area their ancestors weren't from. area and she’s white, but she is a practicing Muslim along with her husband and wears a hijab. Of course, she doesn’t experience the struggles and scrutiny of the PoC who wear religious headwraps, but it’s not for fashion like how the bindi has become, which [correct me if I’m wrong] a religious Hindu tradition alongside Indian. I hope I don’t come off as a sympathizer or a racist and if I do, I apologize. Thank you, though!

I haven’t gotten any receipts of white people being bashed for being Muslim…can you show me where that is happening? Brombie is Muslim and recognizes the privilege that comes with being white and is excepted by tumblr muslima peers.
