First Week back in Grenada
I want to apologize to my friends and family for completely dropping the ball last term and not posting very much the second half of the term. My first term of MPH went really well, but now I’m starting my first term DVM, and I cannot wait! My first week down on the island was very interesting. We arrived mostly on time after a few hiccups that prevented us from taking off at the proper time, but we arrived safely, and luckily all my bags arrived with me. We waited in line for what seemed like forever at customs just to find out the long line we were waiting in was for first term students, and we could’ve easily surpassed all of them. Whoops... So we get in this dope-ass taxi cab, (I mean it was freakin awesome! I’ll try to post a picture if I have one) and head off to our house in Lan’se Aux Epines. Once we get to the house, we realize we don’t have any wifi. No router, no nothing. We left to talk to Flow, the internet providers in Grenada, and long story short, we weren’t going to have internet until February! That was not acceptable, especially for first term vet students who mostly work off their computer. Now I realize this is confusing for those of you who just recently started following me. I am a first term vet student technically, but I am also a dual degree student, so I spent my first term in Grenada taking public health courses. I hope that cleared things up a bit. Anyway, after badgering the company and checking in with them almost every day, we ended up getting wifi about a week later, but that week was so difficult. You don’t realize how much of your life is in your phone until you can’t use it. So that’s my first week story. Of course other things happened too, like seeing my friends, partying, beaches, meeting new people, etc., but no one remembers the things that go right do they?
