“It’s too soon to give up. This Craziness can’t go on forever.”
Dirk groans and leans against Dave. He’s tired, honestly. He’s regenerated three times already since they got to Silent Hill, he’s wearing some tattered pants he pulled off of a dead monster, stained and torn and dirty enough that he’s not entirely sure what type of fabric it’s made of, and Dave’s shirt. They managed to raid the hospital and despite Dave’s looks, Dirk snagged some bandages to bind with, because no way is he going to suffer crippling dysphoria on top of all this bullshit.
He nuzzles into the human’s collarbone, pressing a soft kiss there. He’s shorter than usual, his body still new and even smaller than it would be fully grown, and he can tell both of them are pretty worn down.
“Nice to know at least one of us is still an optimist,” he says, standing on his toes to press a chaste kiss to Dave’s lips. “Let’s just find somewhere to sleep for the night, okay? The sun’s starting to go down, and I don’t want to be caught out after dark again.”
