this is ,, so cannon? oh god shiro has walked in on him training and he very quietly hears him mutter, “gotta get my head in the game.”. while at the garrison lance sees him with headphones on and is like “damn hes so cool i bet hes listening to cool metal shit” but keith is just really listening to “work this out” from hsm2 while softly headbanging. he pretends to hate them but you can play “gotta go my own way” and he proceeds to leave the room (”i said i wouldn’t cry!”). this boy has a lot of free time and didn’t get to do these things during his child hood so you can not tell me shiro didn’t make him watch these movies with him :,)

honest opinion i don't think it's absolute favortism but guilt. Keith was his psuedo brother before the kerberos mission and he feels like he abandoned him. shiro couldn't save pidge's family so now he feels responsible to be her father/brother figure until they can find them. and that guilt blinds him so much that he doesn't think straight and doesn't understand he needs to build a better working relationship with Lance and hunk. he doesn't have anything to tie himself to them and that's where he fails as a leader. out of everyone there shiro, Lance, and hunk are virtually strangers but because they seem to be doing "fine" aka they're not young (and a girl) or in the verge of attacking anything that looks at them funny, he doesn't feel the need to try. he thinks "oh these two are functional human beings they don't need anything from me" and he's wrong. for all that talk of team bonding in s1, he doesn't really try much with those two and part of it is bc of his ptsd (which btw what happened to that in s2? we didn't see much of that this season) and just ask the stress of being the new leader. i agree we need to stop putting shiro on a pedestal and start questioning his leadership skills. i like shiro and def think he needs a break but yeah, he needs to be put on blast
