Would sending a friend money over a digital app (paypal, cashapp, etc.) during Shabbat cause them to violate the prohibition on handling money? (FOR: they're orthodox, I'm a gentile. Would rather be safe than sorry.)

Mod here. The simplest solution might be to ask your friend, but this question is definitely interesting as a hypothetical.

A reminder that the FOR is Orthodox. Orthodox is, however, a broad FOR. Respondents may want to consider specifying their FOR within and/or providing some reasoning.

This might be a weird question, but I was curious about shabbos goyim. I did some cursory searching online, and the impression I got is that shabbos goyim aren't (or shouldn't be) a thing? Because you're not supposed to have someone else do work that you're not supposed to do? Is that right, or is there some important nuance that I overlooked?

Mod here. (Definition of shabbos goy) As I understand it, opinions vary greatly by FOR. Therefore, I’d encourage respondents to include a halachic and/or communal FOR.

Looking for mostly an orthodox for: if I'm wearing a sweater on Saturday morning and walk to shul (when there's not a plague happening!) And then after shul it's become too warm to wear the sweater, can I carry it home instead of wearing it (assuming I'm not in an eruv)? If not, are there ways to get it home without wearing it as intended (such as tying it around my shoulders or waist?). This is mostly just out of curiosity.

If someone else switches on the lights or the TV in my house on Shabbos, would I still be considered shomer shabbos, considering I'm not the one who turned on the TV or the lights?

Mod here. I know that there’s some disagreement as to whether turning lights on/off breaks Shabbat, but anon seems to be coming from that perspective, so I’ll ask that respondents work from the FOR of “messing with electricity is de facto breaking Shabbat.”
