I’ve always wanted a role model who endures the burden of responsibility on their shoulders. Because I’ve been running away from that unknown future all my life.

Day 02 → How many characters do you have? Do you prefer males or females?
Hahahahahhahahaha.
What a funny question. How many do I have?
Oh god, for the sake of this question, for this moments, let's exclude RP characters. (Because oh my Lord, there's plenty of them. But they are writing. So, shh, they will be added soon.)
Let's just keep it recent. From Shadow Guardians onward. And we'll exclude short stories (which is just as well, given half of them are nameless. Oh short stories. How cruel I am with you.)
Shadow Guardians: Georgie. Dempsey. Roawn. Adam. Noah. Angelica. Damion. Jeremiah. Roni. (Oh God I miss all these babies so much. Must write short stories. MUST FINISH THIS DAMN BOOK.)
Backwards Compatibility: Crickette French. Chance Folly. Drima. Theo. Karma. (Ugh won't even touch Chance's freinds. Or sister. Or their co-workers.)
The Extraordinary Mr. Quick: Roi Belke. Poppy. OLIVER QUICK. Dan. Zoe. Lucy. Cayden (ugh he still needs a new name I fucking HATE THAT NAME SO MUCH NOW.)
Kennedy Not Kenny: (needs a new name) Kennedy. Aislainn. Daddykins. Bernadette. Simon. Dan. (and all the other boys oh lord)
XO: MacKensie. Mikey. Mo (Maureen). Kip (ugh why did I call him Kip?!)
Dreamworld Chronicles: Annie. Ellie. Robin. Winnie. Jonas. Maggie. Silas. Romy (Romilda) Orion. Hecate. Queen Circle. Asteria. Daddykins. Auntiekins. (ugh must check names :|)
Is that all the novels? Yes? No? (No, it's not. There's that ghost story idea. I need to check all the other fetuses again for development. Ugh oh lord and the underdeveloped ideas that will one day acquire character. Oh my brain.)
I shaved out a lot of old RP characters but I'm left with 30. THIRTY. Oh lord. :| All with independent voices and personalities. GOOD LORD my head is FULL of fictional people. HOLY SHIT.
So yeah. I keep a lot of fictional people in my head. No wonder I needn't any friends.
But do I prefer male or female characters? Depends. I can't see myself writing a novel from a male perspective. However, I can write short stories (and fan fiction one shots!) from male views. I can write drabbles and ficlets for males. But never a full novel.
And if we're talking RP? Either or. I like to keep a healthy balance. :D Males aren't HARD to write per say - it's just something else ENTIERLY when I try it as a novel. It's so immense and I can't get all the way into it. D:
Writing Woes
Don’t get me wrong. I LOVE when I come up with new writing ideas. There’s something satisfying in knowing I have all these fetuses, all these ideas on the backburner, waiting for me to write them. Unfortunately, my focus slips up a lot. As ideas come to me, I start to think about the characters and their stories and the more I think about them, the more they come to life, and suddenly I find my head is fuller than before with voices waiting to be written, stories waiting to be told, and while I know I should be focusing on Crickette and Chance and Karma, my mind wanders to Kennedy and Georgie and introduces Charolotte and Felicity and names play around in my head and stories weave. Fortunately, I’ve never reached a point where my plot wires crossed or I slipped up and placed Georgie in BC or tried to throw Annie into the wrong world. Still. My focus is everywhere which is pretty much nowhere. If I could write them all at once, I would! I know it’s all about the novelty of the ideas; once the newness wears off, I’m more content to slip it back to the back burner. It’s not that I only like the ideas when they’re NEW, clearly, or I wouldn’t have a folder full of fetuses with character names and the beginning of outlines. But I really DO hate waiting to finish something before playing with another. As it is, I’ve got this tendency to dance from one novel to another. If I grow bored of one or find myself in a rut, I switch to another idea, until I find I miss Chance and Crickette again or something like that. I know, in the end, it will all work out. I’ll finish Backwards Compatibility (btw, I am thinking of giving this a new name! :x) and I’ll edit the shit out of it and start querying and then I’ll work on something else. Guardians needs a complete overhaul; what I have is good, but too much, too extensive, and in much need of work (as makes sense for being my first ever novel). False Awakening is 1/3 to 1/2 written, Kennedy, Not Kenny is in the process of outlining, XO has a rough plot line and character development, and this new idea is playing in my head. I just wish I could write them all at once, because I find I’m already so attached to every idea in my mind. I can’t favor just one, because each has its merits, each is different and special in some way. Ugh, I sound so silly right now. Alas.
