so im playing shadow of revan back to back on my sith warrior and my jedi knight

and it’s INSANE how much info you just are never told/is never brought up/never is discussed on the pub side of SOR. like there’s so much missing context )even for the jedi knight) that playing the pub side of it feels EMPTY??? it’s so weird. like you miss so much of the minutiae

another thing I noticed is that the pub side is written like you and the imps are having a very uneasy and bitter temporary kind of truce, like everyone’s unhappy and suspicious (except Lana + Marr because they’re down so bad but still) -> compared to how when you’re playing as an imperial character it’s written to be more….welcoming??? even lowkey grateful to be teaming up??? like everyone just in general sounds much happier to be there fighting together rather than dreading or hating it. it’s just interesting to me.

I think a big part of why Shadow of Revan holds up so well, even among the bigger expansions, is that your characters still feel like their classes.

And I am not talking about that one class specific quest you get on Rishi. It's a lot of the little things that just add up that make this expansion feel like an extension of the class story.

To name a few examples:

Theron and Lana both act diffrently towards you based on your class They talk with a jedi character in a kind of friendly way, whereas they are kinda weary towards an Imperial Agent.

Class specific dialogue in random situations These days we only get this once in a blue moon when someone from the class stories gets a moment in the main quest. But in Shadow of Revan it's everywhere. From the smuggler and agent just being in their element on Rishi while the jedi classes don't know the first thing about pretending to be pirates, to random Revanites being scarred of you, based on your specific reputation (which also takes different class story endings into account).It's also in the dialoge choices. In my current agent playthrough there have been multiple instances where I have been able to talk about or to Theron in a spy specific way.

The cherry on top of that, are the letters. I must admit that I do not remember what kind of letters the other classes recieve but I know for a fact that it's not the cryptic stuff the agent is getting. At the end of the day it's just a text in your mailbox but it really helps to set the scene of what life your character is leading outside of the current main quest (For example: The agent getting stalked by the Shroud and recieving weird warnings about people inquiring about you from someone who may or may not be the Ex Minister of Intelligence).

I think we should bring things like this back into the current Era of Swtor. Yes, your characters life has drastically changed after their 5 years of beauty sleep and they are very deeply involved in being the Commander and dealing with todays galaxy ending event BUT COME ON. Prior to all this, the Commander was the person who killed the Chancellor of the Republic and won the Great Hunt / who killed Vitiate / a famous smuggler / a Dark Council member (and so on). And you are trying to tell me that that past doesn't haunt the Commander in a way or two? Not even in the form of a letter from a random guy from their past. Seriously I miss those letters.

TLDR Shadow of Revan is a good expansion because it incorperates class specific things on the regular and we should bring that back.

I'm not sure about this VA for Revan but I am a huge fan of this dramatic bitch parking a massive hologram of himself on the temple roof and telling me off for messing with his schemes. Peak Revan maneuver.
