American Gods vs Text Posts  Part 6/??

I have a theory and a pretty far fetched speculation about the show, but since it’s a very big spoiler from the book and a major spoiler from episode 2.07, I’m gonna put everything under the cut!

I was rereading the novel and I reached the end, when Laura asks Shadow to remove the coin so she could die, since she thinks she has fulfilled her purpose to protect him in this war of gods. While I was reading that scene I focused on the part where Shadow makes the coin disappear with a trick, presumably the one Mad Sweeney told him during the wake that followed his death. A thought crossed my mind. I know that the show is very different from the book in many ways, but I think we are heading for the same conclusion, especially since Neil Gaiman is more involved from season two and going forward, so-- what if this scene is included in the show - much later on - but instead of Shadow we have Sweeney during it? We’ve seen Sweeney practicing that very same trick in front of Essie McGowan at the time of her death, and given the way Sweeney dies on the show I’m anticipating that he won’t have a wake and he’s not gonna tell Shadow how to reach the Hoard, since that would mean that he would be able to recover Odin’s spear. So I don’t see how Shadow could make the coin disappear unless Sweeney comes back to teach him how to do it. I do ship madwife and that’s probably why the thought occurred to me, even though I’m not sure I’d like this version of the scene, since it’s a very important and moving moment in the book for both Laura and Shadow.

Just watched the new episode of American Gods

SPOILERS FOR SEASON 2 EPISODE 1

I loved the entire episode, it was amazing and I’m so glad it’s back!!

Honestly, my favorite part was when Shadows first instinct was to tackle Laura to the ground after the sniper began shooting up the place.
