The Before

Sara was the youngest in a religious family located just outside Chicago Illinois. She was everything her parents wanted, kind, clever, and sweet but most of all obedient to them and to the church. Sara never questioned her upbringing till her mother was diagnosed with cancer when she was a freshman in high school. Her mother passed the summer before she left for college. 

Now in the city proper and away from her family Sara started experimenting with everything: drugs, sex, and how many classes she could skip before it showed in her grades. Overall Sara was a decent student but a much better party animal.

Senior year of college Sara met Richard, a businessman with more money that God. The Two were passionate but volatile even from the start with the promise of long and hot nights in a Chicago penthouse too appealing for Sara to pass up. Why Richard chose to spend time with her she didn’t know, but never questioned it.

The Moment of Truth

One night while out in the city Sara and Richard began arguing. Richard lead Sara to an alleyway. Sara was too caught up in her emotions to notice Richard’s teeth had turned sharp. Then-- a piercing pain, but it wasn’t from Richard. He was watching Sara with shock and disgust as she fell to the ground. 

The two had been followed by a werewolf who knew what Richard was-- a vampire. The werewolf thought he could save this poor innocent girl from being made a blood milkshake. Oh how naive he was.

Richard fled but the transformation was already beginning. That was the night Sara was reborn. 

A New (Moonlit) Life

With Richard  gone, Sara turned her attention to pack life. In a way it was like she was back in college, going to parties, selling drugs, poor decision hookups... Sara was a golden member of the pack known for her snappy attitude and being up for any job. 

However things started to change, the idea of Anti-Supernatural laws was becoming mainstream and some of the biggest proponents of the new laws was Sara’s own family, her father especially. 

Around the same time Richard returned and the two fell back into old habits but now much more secretive. 

Last days in Chicago

With the new laws in effect, the supernatural community started to spiral. Packs were broken up overnight as people fled to whatever city they thought would take them

Sara and Richard were still together and considered leaving the city together. But then Richard made a suggestion... he pointed out that they could do something about her family if she really wanted. Revenge for how they had treated her ever since she had changed. This set her off. Richard could do anything to her but her family was her business.  

After almost ten years of companionship, Sara killed Richard in cold blood and fled the city, figuring no one would care about one vampire in the chaos. 

Arrival in Shadowfall

With all her experience in the underworld Sara fit right in with the Shadowfall Pack, fitting in neatly with their desire to run the city from the shadows. 

She opened up Chasers a little dive bar where the pack could conduct business and make some money on the side. 

Richard’s name hasn’t left her lips since she left Chicago and she has no plans to tell people the truth, but she is wary of vampires due to the relationship. 

Connections

Shadowfall Pack: Sara is close with her pack but that doesn’t stop her from ribbing them and sometimes being outright rude to them. Really she sees most of the pack as her siblings. Co-workers: Chasers is a werewolf establishment but Sara has no problem hiring other supernaturals. Even a vampire if they prove themselves to be trustworthy. Succubi/Incubi bud: Having grown up in a prudish household Sara has always wanted to befriend one of these supernaturals as an ultimate middle finger to family. She’s also curious to see if they can really live up to the hype in the sheets.  Human weakness: All of Sara’s immediate family is human. While her relationship with them is not great, she still cares for them and this human reminds her of them. Not only that, but this human reminds her even she used to be human. Sara will also want to protect this human from other supernaturals.   Old Habits bite hard: A vampire friend Sara can’t help but love, or more accurately make love. You could say she has a type-- and stuffy vampires fit the bill.

From the very beginning Skye and her family used they abilities to their advantage. They kept what they were a secret, wanting leverage, a leg up in the world. They used magic to get them what they wanted, and any strengths they had were part of cons they ran. Skye enjoyed the cons. She loved being brilliant, using her artistic talent to make nearly flawless forgeries, improving until she began forging art. She grew tired hiding what she was and even only using her abilities for quick cash and underhanded deals. She dreamed big, wanting her own art on showcase. The more she perfected other pieces of art, jewelry and the link, the more she craved wanting her own name signed to pieces.

She made the decision for herself. When she heard about Shadow Falls, she wanted to at least live among people that were like her. People that didn’t have to hide who they were. So instead of hiding she could at least in one city be a witch, and an artist, but she wasn’t stupid, she knew art didn’t always pay the bills. Not at first and not if you weren’t incredible at it. So she did continue her forgeries, but she also got a job at Wicked Whims. This was the only place she felt truly qualified to work. A place that sold what pretty much everyone was willing to pay for - Sex.

If Skye was being honest, she loved working at Wicked Whims almost as much as she loved art. In a way she saw sex as a work of art too. The only part of her life that she didn’t truly have a handle on was finding and joining a coven. The Golightly Coven was her dream coven, but she had no way in. The likelihood that anyone would marry her just for the sake of her getting to join was slim, and she wasn’t so sure any other coven in the city aligned with her views.

----Jude was born out of pride, ambition and possibly even an act of desperation. When their parent’s line to the Supreme was threatened Jude and her sibling were raised more like soldiers and less like children. Jude’s sibling adapted better than she did. Though whether that was out of the genuine love of the craft or the instinct to survive she was never sure, 

----Though she had every reason to hate them, Jude was endlessly fascinated by the human and “normal” world. Against her family’s wishes she constantly was sneaking out to the cities. It didn’t take long to realize her favorite pastime was tricking gullible humans. Fake palm and tarot readings, selling “love potions” and “curses”. A few pretty words and they were easy money.

---She always knew of the resentment her parent held toward’s their older sibling. They certainly weren’t shy about hiding it. Jude, for the most part, chose to ignore it. She already hated feeling like an outcast. Getting dragged into some decades old beef wasn’t exactly on her to do list. 

----Jude had a fairly good idea what happened to her aunt. She doubted the plan didn’t go exactly as hoped considering her parent was still on the sideline on Sage was the new Supreme. Jude had mixed feelings. On one hand she wasn’t really sure what kind of leader her cousin would make. Surely not as terrible as her parent. On the other a small part of her wished everything had happened the way it was supposed to. Finally put this feud to rest.

Roman was turned before supernaturals were known. But he had been in the know early on. He was a child on his own, running away from a life of servitude, sticking to the shadows, pillaging for food. A kind man raised him, taught him, and when he was old enough gave him the option to of turning him. He embraced the vampire lifestyle, his sire teaching him to live like he was superior, no more hiding in the shadows.

Roman despises the anti-supernatural laws that were put into place. Since the day he was turned, he’d believed that their species was above the law, made to feed, to live as they pleased and to enjoy who and what they were. There was no point in this life if you couldn’t live how you wanted to. He’d already lived through so many oppressive laws and he didn’t want to go back.

Roman made a home in shadow falls, a month after the city opened. A city with no established laws or governing seemed like heaven. And he treated it as such. Feeding when he pleased, flashing his charm and sweet talking those around town. He always kept a good foot forward, showing off his charm, known for throwing amazing parties, but it was also known that should anyone cross him or his clan, there would always be hell to pay.

Yvette was born into incredible wealth and privilege, the only child of Giselle and Antoine Baudelaire -- two aristocratic fae who, for centuries, had amassed an incredible fortune all the while blending in among the human world.  As a child, Yvette played on her family’s sprawling estate, a gentle, carefree, and kind soul. She loved her family dearly, and there was never a thing that Antoine and Giselle wouldn’t do for their youngling. Even when the human world discovered the existence of the supernatural world, the Baudelaire’s shielded their daughter from the persecution, moving their family to the states. 

The Baudelaire’s continued living in the human world peacefully, even as tensions began to rise between the mortal and magical realms. While in America, Yvette had a tryst with one of the gardeners who tended her parent’s home in the states, discovering her insatiable need for physical intimacy. 

For years, things were peaceful until Yvette’s entire world came to an end in a single moment, when the young fae came home one evening to discover her parent’s slaughtered in their own home. If it hadn’t been for her bodyguard, who had saved her from the gruesome scene, Yvette would have likely met the same fate as her dear family. With their help, she escaped into the night. She found sanctuary in Shadowfalls, a city solely dedicated to supernaturals. Her parents had sheltered her from the harsh realities of what it meant to be supernatural, to be different, as she witnessed firsthand the hardships that befell those of magical blood. ☆ Biography

Ashton was born in Brooklyn to Clarke and Jasmine Davis – a leading homicide detective of the NYPD and a kick ass prosecuting attorney, both of whom had amassed a collection of solved cases for the state of New York. Clark and Jasmine were sure to instill a strong moral compass and sense of will into their only child. As a kid, Ashton was taught the importance of truth and justice. She grew up incredibly close to her parents, inspired by their sense of duty and dedication. When the existence of the supernatural word came to light, Jasmine and Clarke wasted no time in teaching their daughter the importance of acceptance and equality while the world around them proclaimed messages of hate and discrimination.

Ashton was a diligent student, excelling in all of her classes. Though she excelled academically, Ash had a hard time making many friends. She was a spunky and feisty thing who was prone to getting into fights with the other kids at her school, especially when it came to kids who came from bigoted families who though the supernatural community were abominations.

After graduating high school, Ashton was faced with the dilemma of her future. She desperately wanted to continue her family’s legacy and make them proud, but police work and politics were fields she did not have any intention of pursuing. That is when journalism called to the young woman, a field wholly dedicated to the truth and justice. Impartiality. Ash wasted no time in attending university and getting a degree in journalism. Just months after obtaining her degree she was hired as a low level field reporter. Through her determination and sheer will, Ashton climbed the ranks and made a name for herself, notoriously taking stories involving the supernatural world. 

Her latest story has lead her to Shadowfalls, a city created solely for supernaturals. At her core, Ashton believes that every species should have basic rights and the ability to live their lives as their own. It deeply saddens her to see so many beings denied so much at the hands of humans. Ashton is hungry to prove herself and change the mortal public's perspective on the supernatural world. Her skilled reporting on the facts, her determination, and thirst for knowledge make her an unstoppable force. Hopefully all of these things will help survive within a city of beings who loathe her very existence.

Hey, everyone, it’s Marie back at it again with my second character. Meet Lennox Bishop, the Bishop Coven Supreme, who has a quick wit, has a tendency to tell it like it is, and doesn’t exactly know when the “right” time to do anything is. He’s an innovative Supreme and is doing a good job running the Coven, but that doesn’t mean he has his life totally together.

Shadowfalls

The Bishop Coven is originally from a town near Salem, Massachusetts. They fled after their former Supreme and her daughter (Lennox’s mother and sister) were killed. They left behind all the other supernaturals in the area, including another coven of witches in the area.

Lennox is something of a visionary as far as supremes go. He does not guard the Bishop Coven’s secrets as closely as other covens guard theirs, nor does he follow the same traditions. He’s willing to share his coven’s knowledge and skills with other witches and wants to unite all the covens in the city.

Lennox owns and operates ‘Bishops Books and Brews’, which is a coffee shop that doubles as a bookstore. The shop is the type of low-key escape from Coven business that Lennox needs. He tries to keep a pretty laid back vibe in the place, and lets his cat wander around wherever it pleases. He only hires other witches, but they can be from any coven.

Lennox hates the anti-supernatural laws and is extremely fearful of life outside the Shadowfalls city limits. He blames the laws for his mother and sister’s murders, which happened in his home town before he and the coven fled. Currently, he’s channeling all of his fear and anger into making sure his coven is safe inside the city. 

Personality

Lennox does not know how to keep his mouth shut when he has an opinion. He isn’t afraid to speak his mind, even if what he has to say is harsh or unpopular. He isn’t good at sugarcoating things, so if you’re looking for someone to break bad news gently, he isn’t your guy. 

Along with that comes some serious bravery, though. He isn’t afraid of consequences, and if he doesn’t like something, he pushes for change. He isn’t the kind of person who sits around and waits for life to happen to him.

Making change is a process though, especially when it comes to the ancient structure of covens. Even people in his own Coven might regard him as a shit disturber. He wants to innovate and bring the Coven into the future...and all the other Covens too!

He’s a pretty jealous person in most aspects of his life. He isn’t good at sharing and he most definitely is not good at dealing with the frustration that he feels when someone else gets something he wants - whether it’s a deal, an alliance, or even just an apartment.

While his outspoken nature might turn some people away, he is outgoing. He also has a very business-man like air to him when he’s discussing city business.

He’s very intent on making sure that the city comes under control of supernaturals, especially witches, so anyone who threatens that will earn themselves a sharp tongue lashing at the very least.

Aside from his dedication to the Coven, Lennox has a big problem with commitment. His mother and father split when he was a child and he never saw his dad again. Now, all of his family is dead. He’s terrified of being abandoned and making personal commitments that put him in danger of being abandoned. He self sabotages a number of his romantic and platonic relationships on a regular basis.

These commitment issues are a big part of why he wants to do away with the notion of having to ‘marry into’ the coven. He thinks witches are stronger together anyway, so why make such a big deal out of it? 

Lennox is not a fancy person. He uses Bishop’s Books and Brews to conduct most Coven meetings and business, and he lives in a run down apartment in the city.

Other Covens: Lennox is actively trying to align all witches in all covens in the city. This is a radical way of thinking and doing things, so I don’t think it’s a concept many witches will be a fan of or think is a good idea. Lennox will probably try to pitch his concept to as many witches as possible, whether they’re supremes or not, in hope that it’ll catch on. 

Bishop Coven: Lennox treats the coven like they are his family, because really, they’re all he has left. Of course, there’s still room for tension! Some of the coven might like his radical ways of thinking, but that definitely doesn’t have to be the general consensus.

Supernatural Rivals: Lennox is super involved in Shadowfalls politics and wants to play a big part in the government. This supernatural or supernaturals have rivaling political goals. Maybe they’re simply advocating for their species, maybe they have a thing against witches, or we can brainstorm another idea!

Neighbors (both at home and business wise!): Lennox lives in a pretty run down apartment in the city and he has the bookstore/coffee shop. Maybe they’re friendly neighbors, maybe they’re business rivals, maybe they’re flirty neighbors who have been eyeing each other since either one moved in! I’m open to lots of dynamics.

Bro Code: Lennox really needs a guy best friend who will call him on shit, especially when he’s trying to push this friend away. In return, Lennox will absolutely be their for him for better or for worse. They can be any species EXCEPT human. 

One Night Stands and Flings Gone Wrong: Lennox is a commitment-phob and that might never change. He’s sabotaged a number of potential relationships throughout his life, and probably didn’t stop once he moved to Shadowfalls.

Everyone says they are (AMBITIOUS & STRONG-WILLED), but if you cross them they can be (OBSTINATE & WITHDRAWN). When you think of (GREY), you think of ( calloused fingers stained with gunpowder, sharp teeth dripping with blood, a worn out deck of cards strewn about the floor ).

Introducing Grey, your local hunter turned werecat! But shhh, that part is a secret, so if you want to be in on it, make sure you hit me up for plotting! He’s confused about the predicament he finds himself in now --mainly that he used to believe all the supernatural creatures were soulless monsters that deserved to be eradicated-- and trying to figure out what his life is now. He works odd jobs --a lot of risky, violent endeavors, likely-- and lives in a shitty apartment while he lays low and tries to figure out his life now. Grey grew up on the move, mainly around the Pacific Northwest. He’s been a hunter his whole life, and is pretty damn good at killing supernatural creatures. But that’s not what he does now; he will kill them if a job calls for it, but he’s not hunting just for the sake of eradicating their kind any longer.

He was engaged in much of the large-scale fighting between humans and supernaturals, and killed a lot of creatures. It’s possible someone could recognize him from back then, and it’s possible he could’ve killed someone they loved.

He’s not a super social guy, but he does enjoy a quiet beer and can often be found at the bar, the casino, or the strip club for a good time.

He hasn’t had many significant romantic relationships, far preferring one night stands to anything with potential to get serious. 

He can be charming to get what he wants out of people, but he’s rarely genuine when he’s being overtly friendly.

A hunter that Grey used to be friends with while he was human, who doesn’t know that he was turned. They think that he’s in town to protect the humans still living here from the supernaturals, and Grey doesn’t want to admit that he’s no longer human, so he’s hiding what he really is from them.

A human that Grey feels he has to protect. They decided to live in Shadowfalls for whatever reason, and even though Grey has tried telling them how dangerous it is, they don’t want to leave. So Grey feels compelled to keep an eye on them and protect them from any dangerous supernaturals, whether they like it or not.

A werewolf that Grey has formed a rivalry with. These two didn’t meet on the best of terms, and ever since, they’ve continued to butt heads. Every time they meet, something inevitably goes down and there’s usually blood involved.
