As I research this for years, it seems like mostly Cambodians and Laotians kinda prefer Thailand they got addicted to Thai TV and social media, even use daily supplies imported from Thailand. But, for the govs, it's different. Both of their govs have better relationship with Vietnam (which Cambodia's lately walk into China instead) and they're trying to pull their people out from Thailand's influence, but they found it's much harder than expected.

oh, this is a whole lot of info i didn’t know, especially about the latter half of your first comment. i read a few articles several years ago that mention how cambodia and laos’ government are close to vietnam’s government, but i didn’t know about how cambodia is getting closer to china’s government.
a love-hate relationship...yeah, that’s definitely something. i can see himaruya deciding to go this route; lots of potential for comedic gold and drama.
