I agree with this. Goro wanted an easy route to acceptance and killing someone is far more easy than having someone see how wrong their actions are. It's yet another way to show how different yet same Ren and Goro are but Akechi is slapped with the Adachi stamp so of course all people see is "He shooty people".
That’s not at all what I’m saying, so I don’t agree with the first part of your comment.
I do agree completely that people conflate him too easily with Adachi, however. Which is silly because the both of them have significantly different motives, personalities, backgrounds, instigating incidents that led them to their dark path, etc.
