What the fuck is up with the alleigiance between the demons and the fae?
There has never been an allegiance (that's how you spell that word) between the demons as a whole and the fae. There are no fuzzy feelings of loyalty and commitment, and neither species would ever acknowledge the other as their superior to form such a bond. I can't speak for every individual fae-demon relationship, though. There have been some very interesting dalliances in recent history.

Q: What's up with all the Dark Sceptre stuff? A: The Fae Court has finally negotiated an alliance with Hell. The Dark Sceptre commission was formed to oversee all kinds of magic deals made under a Sceptre contract, offering an alternative to the Ministry's ways of resolving the conflict by going back to more traditional ways of trading in concepts. I say it's a good thing.
Q: Why is it called "Dark Sceptre"? A: Fair Folk uses scepters as conduits for their magic, just as one would use a staff nowadays. They find metal more distinguished and the elegant, thin designs more showing. Any magic conduit that works is a fine magic conduit by me, but Fae sceptres look way too fragile for my liking. The Dark Sceptre is a symbol of peace between two heavily metaphysical and sub-real realms, Otherworld and Underworld, and the image is a dark crown above a scepter. I'm guessing a throne would look horrendous on something like that, especially since the actual Throne is still under reconstruction.
This is quite exciting! We've not had an alliance ever since fae architects were commissioned to assist in building the clock tower of Shadowshire. The centerpiece of the entire east coast of Kokytos, it was built through the efforts of all Gloom metal-working demons making the intricate mechanism and marble-carving skills of the fae, mixed with their interior design of the lower floors from the platanus trees they grew themselves creates a nice spectrum of color fitting for a tower that reaches from the Shade level all the way into Penumbra.
