ON THE ENDS OF GOODS AND EVILS
by Shandu One
“Neque porro quisquam est qui dolorem ipsum quia dolor sit amet, consectetur, adipisci velit.” (There is no one who loves pain itself, who seeks after it and wants to have it, simply because it is pain.) —derived from Cicero, 1st century BC, On the Ends of Goods and Evils
When someone decided to take it on themselves to paint over his earlier work on Colyton St. outside the DVHQ Lifestyle boutique in the LA Arts District Shandu wasn’t happy. Deciding to come back with a stronger image and statement, he resurrected this design first created for the historic Belmont Tunnel—Shandu was one of the founding members of Los Angeles graffiti crew pioneers, LA Bomb Squad—the first crew to paint the now infamous railway tunnel that connected downtown and LA’s Westlake neighborhood. Anyone with any graphic design experience may recognize the Latin Cicero quote barely visible at the top of this wall as the basis for “lorem ipsum” placeholder text, ironically referred to as “greeking.” @shanduone @dvhqlifestyle
