Before... After...
I made a huge lasagne today!! It came out great!! It's 4 inches tall, and it has 6 cheeses, homemade ricotta cheese, homemade tomato sauce, homemade Alfredo sauce, 2 kinds of meat, and many vegetables!! It's still cooling off. I can't wait to eat some. My house smells incredible!!! Petey is guarding it with her life. 🤣🤣🤣 Petey loves lasagne just like me!!😁😍😋 I was wondering how much it weighed so I weighed it. It weighs over 16 pounds!!! If I eat too much, I'll weigh 16 pounds more than I do now so I'm gonna use portion control... 😁🤣😍😋
I just finished grating 4 Italian cheeses, parmesan reggiano, pecorino romano, caccicavallo, and asiago, making sautéed mushrooms, and frying up some chicken. My back hurt so I decided to wait until tomorrow to make an Alfredo sauce from the aforementioned cheeses. I'm gonna use it to make a delightful white pizza. Instead of making a pizza with my homemade dough right now, I decided to make my version of an Italian open faced grilled cheese sandwich with all of the other ingredients and some thinly sliced white onions. I'm am very happy with the way this sauceless pizza turned out. It was delicious 😋 I never before used real asiago as a main component in my cooking. It is really strong and funky. It is delicious 😋 I can't wait to make a real white pizza with Alfredo sauce tomorrow 😋 with the addition of that lovely sauce, that pizza is gonna be decadent and delectable!! Mmmmmmmm ❤️ If I hadn't just eaten, I'd be hungry just thinking about it. I am looking forward to seeing how it comes out. I love cooking because you can take anything and with spices and techniques, you can create something wonderful ✨️ 😊 it's so much fun, too. To me, cooking is an expression of love, especially when you get to feed others. I love doing that. My neighbors eat very well. 😁😍😋 In the words of Julia Child, bon appétit!!!
The peach pies came out so well that I decided to use the same method to make chicken pot pies. Oh my my!!! This is the best chicken pot pie that I've ever had. You can hear the crust crunch as you put your fork into it, and the filling is scrumptious 😋 I like this way of making pot pies better than the traditional way because the crust cooks better. It's sooooooo flaky and light. I can't imagine that I can eat this whole thing, but it tastes so good it's gonna be hard not to do so. Petey, definitely, wants to help me finish it. She's very excited about dinner tonight. So am I. In the words of Julia Child... bon Appétit 😊 😋😍
Petey is enjoying her biggie biggie bone bone very, very much. I'm enjoying watching her enjoy her bone. I love Petey so much 😍 She brings me great joy 😊 she's my best friend.
Petey is very happy!!! 😁 I was looking for something in my closet and found this adorable fluff and tuff wolf that I had bought for Petey a long time ago. I had forgotten that it was there. I was just thinking that it's about time to buy her another toy and woot, there it is!!! We are having a great time playing with the little wolf. I love surprises like this one. 😍 they bring joy to all involved!!! It's gonna be a great day. It's, definitely, been a great start to the day!!! I hope that you all have a great day, too. 😁🤗😍 Petey says, "Woof to you all, which is her way of telling you that she wishes you a great day, too!!!
In honor of my grandma and her fantastic food, I made pasteles. This is what they look like when you put them in the sink to drain after boiling them. Pasteles are Puerto Rican 🇵🇷 Christmas food. My grandma made them every Christmas. They are delicious 😋 😍 she fed everyone pasteles every year. People came from miles and miles away to enjoy and celebrate Christmas with us and to eat her pasteles. They normally are wrapped in banana leaves, but I can't get them here so I used foil. They are made with platanos (plantains), potatoes, and a delicious mixture of pork, onions, green peppers, tomato paste, garlic, salt, and pepper. Each one has one green olive in it except for one pastele. That one had two. If you got the one with two olives, you'd have great luck for the new year.
This is what they look like unwrapped. They get their color from me adding achiote to the batter of potatoes and platanos. They are delicious 😋 every time I make them, I can feel my grandma smiling down on me. It feels great. It tastes great. It's a great gift to have pasteles!!! Thank you, Grandma. I love and miss you very much 😍🥰❤️
