Cucullia umbratica

From the noctuidae family. They have a wingspan of 44-59 mm. They tend to inhabit urban gardens, chalk and limestone grassland, marshes, coastal sand-dunes and shingle beaches. They are found throughtout most of the Palearctic Realm, and has recently been reported from North America.
