elaborating more on my "plza clemont becomes bonnie's legal guardian" headcanon.

i know in the xy anime they apparently have a dad, but i never watched that + am not considering it. in every other media they seem to really be on their own? no parent(s) really active in their lives, and they're especially close and reliant on one another. my personal headcanon is clemont and bonnie are neglected? or at the very least, their parents don't care too much. this makes clemont have to take a protector role even though he's kind of a wimpy nerd, because he's the big brother and it's his job to take care of his little sister. he probably also struggles with growing up too fast because of this and being the youngest gym leader in kalos, but i can go on and on about that another time. when he turns 18, he basically says "fuck this" and does what he can to make sure his little sister stays safe and by his side. so he uses his gym leader connections to build a solid legal defense team, and take their parents to a custody battle that, lets be honest, clemont was ALWAYS gonna win. so the siblings are safe and together forever ^_^
