This is Gwen. Gwenevere Xavior. She lives in Ville de L’Argent, and is one of the only people who doesnt feel the need to tack on ‘the city’ before the name.
The City of Ville de L’Argent is caught between the roots of its past and the bleeding edge of science. The city prospers and shines as two companies dual for power. The Pharm is the leading name in pharmaceuticals, bringing advanced health care in leaps in bounds every year. Vertech is on the very edge of technological advance and is in staunch competition with The Pharm. They've created hundreds of jobs for the City and L’Argent shines brighter every day.
but the brighter something shines, the less likely one is to notice the darkness around it. The class lines are clear and pronounced in L’Argent. it all depends on what side of the river you were born on.illegal drug trials and genetic experimentation keep The Pharm at the edge of biological science. child labor keeps vertech churning out its great tech. Its the cancer no one talks about, the blood that keeps the city breathing.
Gwen is used to how the city works, dont call the police if your address is on the wrong side of the river, dont pay a pharmer for what a witch can do. keep your mouth shut, your eye on the ground, and for spirits sake, Gwen please stop talking to your shadow.
She never asked to be a hero. All she wanted was to be normal, but suffering from near crippling survivors guilt, an almost uncontrollable desire to hurt people, and a sister that exists as her shadow and lives in her head, normal was never an option. and as she’s about to find out, every action, no matter how well intended, has consequences.
