Yosemite & Mono Lake
In 1980, I attended the Ansel Adams Workshop as a young pup. As part of this trip I exposed a few sheets of 4" x 5" film at Mono Lake and just one of Half Dome (where it’s not even the main subject).
I must say: there is not a good composition to be found in this early work: I was just finding my way around a view camera, and the clumsiness shows. (This particular camera was a Calumet full studio rail, in a large box—not particularly good for use in the field, especially when it came to hiking.)
In any case, my apologies to Ansel and all the great 19th century photographers who exposed wet-plates in this area: Muybridge and Watkins among them.
