As mentioned last week I've been working on this project.
The only 'real design' we actually get to do this year, aside from log books and InDesign funs.
So I've been working with the other guys on my course with the lady behind The ROCO in Sheffield, if you were around during Design Week you might have heard of it. Anyway it's a Creative Co Op in the making, and is due to open next year.
A big part of The ROCO is the 'Do Goods' which is a base from which people can learn about 'good' design. The ROCO aims to use design as a force for positive social change, and to provide everything needed to do that (gallery, cafe, maker space, shop, etc).
As my peers focussed on different parts of the project, I looked at scoping this Do Good mantra into something understandable and accessible to people. I adopted the existing ROCO style and influences to create a simple and playful logo that acts as a 'stamp of approval' on items to show that they meet the Do Good criteria in some way.
Had a lot of fun designing and calling in favours from people and borrowing product designers to learn new tricks and it's pretty exciting to think this might actually get taken forward into something!
And if nothing else I got to work with a live client, work in a group, and totally justify hours of listening to Suburbs to get me through.
